Hope For Horses To improve the quality of life and end suffering for at-risk horses in Western North Carolina We work with animal control groups in several WNC counties.

Hope for Horses is a non-profit equine rescue located in Leicester, NC. Hope for Horses was established in 1998 to provide permanent placement alternatives for the equine population of Western North Carolina. The need became more apparent as more and more horses were left abandoned, neglected and abused. Hope for Horses was given life largely due to the services of Dr. Ann Stuart and Dr. Ted Wrigh

t of Appalachian Equine Veterinary Service, located in Weaverville, North Carolina. Their never-ending support provides the necessary medical care for horses donated to the program. The additional support of approximately sixty-five dedicated volunteers and numerous local contributors enables this dream to continue. Hope for Horses also offers solutions for equine owners in need of help through our HorseMatch Program. Many of these horses are in excellent condition, but in most cases due to their ages or certain limitations and their owners are just wanting good homes for them. While we believe there is a time and a place for euthanasia, we are steadfast in our belief that every horse deserves a safe and happy retirement whenever possible.

She lived out her final chapter loved and living her very best life at Hope for Horses. Thank you to our friends at the University of Tennessee large animal hospital for helping us with Ginger. She is missed. Enjoy the big green pasture in the sky sweet girl!💔

Our friends at Hoof and Horn could use some help! If you’ve got the time they sure could use some team work to get their stalls put together for their sweet horses. The biggest perk is all the sweet four legged friends that will be supervising…horses, minis, donkeys, goats and I’m sure a few others! Come on out if you can💜

CALL for Volunteers!
Our stall panels are arriving on Monday, February 3rd.

We have rented a skidsteer with forks to unload them off the trucks. But we would love to get some people to help us bolt them
Together. I have never done this before and will really appreciate any help.

Also THANK YOU TO EVERYONE that donated to our gofundme. Buying these stall panels and the materials for our replacement barn is where the bulk of our gofundme money went. So, if you contributed you made this possible!

This is an amazing CA equine rescue organization helping out during the wildfires. Please if you are able to donate to their cause, it is a good one. The country has been so supportive to WNC over the past few months, let’s help CA get back on their feet. The horses and their people need our help.❤️

🩵Happy New year to all!🩵
As we say goodbye to 2024 we’d like to recap a few of our happiest memories!

We are thrilled to share the wonderful success of our Horse Match program, which has helped connect unwanted horses with new and loving homes! This year, we’ve also seen some of our cherished equine companions find their forever families—Jody, T-Bone, Ponch, Lionheart, and Toto have all embarked on their new adventures! As we welcomed these success stories, we also brought in Mae and Jake, who arrived in desperate need of care. Mae, with a troubling body score of one, was a walking skeleton, yet her spirit remained bright alongside Jake. Thanks to our dedicated refeed program, both are thriving and soon will be ready for adoption into loving homes. Together, we can continue to make a difference for these amazing animals.

🩵Your support and dedication have made a significant impact, and we want to say thank you to ALL the helpers for your invaluable contributions.🩵

❤️Hope for Horses would like to close out the year by honoring a woman who also helped horses. Her family would like to match donations up to $3,333. Let’s help honor Janna Kloss’s final wishes❤️

Janna (Overman) Kloss was a passionate and skilled quarter horse barrel racer as a young woman.

Her passion for horses never left her as she cared for 3 horses the rest of her life (before the disease that ultimately took her life, Multiple Sclerosis):

Julie, Sienna and Sugar.

One of the greatest joys of my mother’s life was sponsoring abused and neglected horses. Her sponsored horse, Sugar brought her great joy in one of the best times of her life.

As a tribute to the best mother who ever lived, her son, Israel Kloss, committed to donate a matching gift to a horse therapy and horse rescue organization as a tribute to her life and love for the horses who’s lives brought her so much joy.

Let’s help our Furry Friends get the care they need this season❤️🐾❤️

♥️ This Holiday season please consider donating to our Furry Friend Fund ♥️
WNC has been hit hard this year and we have seen the struggle many of our clients are facing since the hurricane. That is why we have established our Furry Friend Fund! The donations from this fund go straight to the care of our community’s companions, furry, hooved or winged, to make sure they can get the care they need. You can donate to this fund via cash, check or card, in person or over the phone. Please give our office a call at 828-658-8989 or swing by the office to donate ♥️ and if you are not in a position to donate this season, please give this post a share, it helps so much to get the word out!Thank you for helping us help our community, we are so grateful for your support!
