This is Pacha, a sweet pup from Kansas who made his way to the Alliance, hoping to find his loving family. When Pacha arrived, our shelter vet team noticed he was having issues with his back leg. It appeared painful and would 'fold' in when he was active. He had x-rays done to see what was causing these problems, and that's when we knew he had a pretty severe fracture that had healed incorrectly. 😔 For Pacha to live a pain-free life moving forward, his best treatment option was to amputate the fractured limb. Pacha's surgery was yesterday, and he's now one step closer to the next chapter of his story, a home to call his own. The cost of Pacha's care is increasing, and he'll be with us for quite some time while he recovers. This petite dude is El Largo, a two-year-old pup with a big personality! He loves to play catch and enjoys short walks (anything too long will require you to carry him home 😆). El Largo is crate-trained, house-trained, and loves the company of feline friends! He hasn't been in our care for very long, and we assume he'll be scooped up quickly. El Largo has not been exposed to other dogs in our care, but we plan to introduce him to our daily dog playgroup today! 😍 He's a cuddle connoisseur and loves to snuggle and snooze the day away with a human friend by his side. We have 33 incredible animals with one New Year's resolution in mind- to be your best friend for many years to come. Wow, this is our final Adoption Event at Petsmart Fort Collins for 2024! We've had a fantastic year of helping dogs and cats meet their loving humans at our weekly Saturday events- in fact, we've had 819 adoptions at PetSmart Fort Collins alone. 🥳 Help us finish the year strong by stopping by this Saturday from 10 am - 2 pm to meet your new family member. We have a crew of adorable kitties and one dapper pup who are eager to start the next chapter of their stories! Maybe you'll be the new main character? 😻🐶

To help us create a smoother adoption experience, we're now asking adopters to complete a pre-approved adoption questionnaire to meet animals during the first hour of the event (10-11 am). If you're browsing or still considering adopting, we'd love to see you! Stop by anytime from 11 am - 2 pm to meet our adoptable friends. Events may end early if all animals are adopted.

Cameroon needs our help! 😔 This sweet girl escaped her home and spent weeks roaming before a kind community member was able to trap her and bring her to our shelter. Cameroon clearly struggled on her adventure outside and returned in rough shape. She had lost a significant amount of weight in that short time. She luckily went to an incredible foster home to recover and regain her strength. Cameroon's foster noticed she had vomited and struggled to keep food down. Thanks to our amazing friends at Paws 'N Claws Veterinary Clinic, we were able to have radiographs done to see what was causing her issues. Cameroon had a large piece of plastic blocking her intestines, preventing her from digesting food properly. 😓 She had abdominal surgery on Tuesday to remove the plastic, and we're happy to report that she has been slowly gaining weight and returning to her usual self. The cost of her care has been adding up and we need your help. For today's $5 Friday, will you make a gift towards Cameroon's care? We have six days left of our Cat Adoption Special! 😻🥳🐾, and we have some fabulous felines looking to celebrate New Year's Eve in the comfort of a loving home! All cats four months and older are BOGO or have half off of their adoption fees until December 31. 🙌 Let us introduce you to a few of our adorable cats:

😻 Anastasiya is a purrrfect one-year-old with the sleekest coat and adorable white socks. She raised her five kittens, all of whom have been adopted, and now it's her turn. She gets along with other cats and dogs, loves to play, and is an expert biscuit maker. She would LOVE to find her family before 2025!

😻 This dapper dude is Lenny, a three-year-old gentle giant. Lenny was brought to our shelter through our Community Cat Program and has seen the lavish life he can live safely indoors. Lenny loves his new experiences with soft blankets, regular meals, and chin scratches. He's a big softy with so much love to give. He would thrive in most homes and is sure to bring so much joy to his new family.

😻 Want-a Fanta? Don't-cha? This stunning one-year-old ginger kitty is Fanta! She's a social girlie who makes friends with everyone she meets. She loves other feline friends and has been great with kiddos. Although she's only been at the Alliance for 11 days, we know she is eager to find a cozy home to call her own.

😻 Tea Cake is an adorable six-month-old tabby! Although she is young, Tea Cake has been with us for almost 100 days. Her foster reports that she has gotten along well with other cats and would love a four-legged sibling to play with. She's full of energy and enjoys zoomies around the house. We hope the right family scoops her up before we say goodbye to 2024!

Hi, I'm Dempster! 🐾 I’m a 2-year-old Terrier/Yorkie mix on the hunt for my home just in time for the holidays! While I’m a little bundle of small breed goodness, I’ve got 20 lbs of pure fun, love, and playful energy to share! 🎉 I’m looking for a human buddy who loves outdoor adventures—I’ve got lots of energy to burn, and I’m ready for some action! 🏞️

I thrive on human attention. I will happily soak up every belly rub and ear scratch you have to offer. Oh, and did I mention I LOVE other dogs? I’d be thrilled to have a canine sibling or fun playdate pals. I may get a bit excited on walks, but with a little patience and some guidance, I’ll be the perfect walking buddy in no time! 🐕

Who’s cutting onions? 🥹 This heartwarming and touching "Happy Tail" is sure to bring a tear to your eye. Read on to discover Pepper's unforgettable story! ⬇️

"In August of 2019, we found ourselves ready to welcome a new dog into our home. As we looked through adoptable dogs at local shelters, our hearts were drawn to a little dog who seemed to radiate both resilience and warmth. Her name was Jalapeño, a fitting name for a spirited pup with a fiery personality.

Jalapeño had quite the backstory. She was transferred to Animal Friends Alliance from the Denver animal shelter, where she had been brought in as a stray. After being found on the streets, she had given birth to a litter of puppies, showcasing her strength and nurturing spirit despite her own challenges. By the time we met her, her puppies had found homes, and it was her turn to shine.

During our meet and greet, we could see the hope in her eyes despite her nervous energy. We knew it would take time to earn her trust.

The moment we brought her home, she transformed our lives. She explored every corner of our house, her curious nose sniffing out new adventures. We decided to rename her Pepper - a name that captured her lively essence.

Pepper quickly settled in, bringing joy and laughter to our home. She loves her walks in the park, chasing after squirrels and making friends with other dogs. Her playful antics and loving nature warms our hearts, and we couldn’t imagine life without her.

Every day with Pepper is a reminder of the resilience of animals in need. She inspired us to become fosters for Animal Friends Alliance. She went from being a stray to a beloved family member, who now welcomes foster puppies into our home and goes into what we call “mama mode”, showing them the ropes. We are forever grateful to Animal Friends Alliance for giving her a second chance. Pepper has taught us the true meaning of love and companionship, and we cherish every moment with our wonderful little dog."
