🆘 ‼️Urgent: We were notified today about our puppy in foster care having an a**l prolapse. This sweet soul is ONLY around 6 weeks old. He has his ENTIRE life ahead of him.
This puppy is scheduled for surgery at 8 am. He will need at least this one surgery, and possibly more if it does not hold the first time which is common. We want to give him a chance. 💔
We operate on a not-for-profit basis meaning we solely rely on donations to cover our vetting costs.

Donations can be made directly to Dr Nixons office under our account Tails of the Forgotten Paws at 870-269-4242. They open tomorrow after 8 am. You may also donate directly via our zeffy link ( zeffy does NOT take fees! The "suggested" amount is completely optional. You can delete that and replace with $0).

Have you seen our adorable “C pups” Carley, Candy, and Callie 😍. We can’t “C” why these ladies haven’t had more interest. They are cute, fuzzy, and the most loving pups. Still so young, they are ready and willing to learn everything you want to teach them. Their adorable little personalities are starting to show ❤️. We are hoping to have one more transport at the end of January and these lovely ladies want nothing more than to be a part of that transport to be united with their forever humans!

This January❄️ we are hoping to keep our kitties🐈 fresh by getting enough kitty litter to keep their litter boxes clean and tidy all year long! Kitty litter is one of the least donated items and is one expense we would love to have covered for the year. We are hoping 🤞to get 50 26lb boxes of kitty litter donated to keep our kitties purring all of 2025!
***Thanks to generous donations dropped off at Pet Supplies Plus, and sent directly to the rescue we only need 45 more boxes!!***

⭐️We have very discerning kitties at the rescue and they know what they like! So, we are looking for scented, clumping kitty litter.⭐️

We can’t say it enough. We are so grateful for our friends at Pet Supplies Plus - Lake in the Hills, IL who helped us with our rescue and shelter dogs Christmas wishes. In addition to in-kind donations (not pictured here) we had several people donate gift cards to make our pups Christmas wishes come true. At our event yesterday, some of our volunteers purchased goodies for our rescue pups with these generous gift cards. Pru was kind enough to pose for a photo op 📸 to help THANK our amazing donors.

Our friends in Arkansas got some SNOW ❄️. So Teddy and Tucker enjoyed some play time. These two are the absolute cutest 🥰. They love their toys! Their foster mama is pretty sure they hide their toys so she’ll buy them new ones (sounds like a great game to us 😉)!

Teddy and Tucker are around 12 weeks old. Our best guess is that they’re Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler mixes.

The best cure for winter ❄️blues is puppy 🐶snuggles! We hope you’ll stop by Pet Supplies Plus - Lake in the Hills, IL tomorrow (January 11) from noon to 2pm for our first event of the year! Our ladies are putting their best paws 🐾forward to represent the rescue tomorrow ❤️Kiwi and Pru will be there ready to soak up all the attention 🥰 (and help warm your chilly fingers)!

We will also be collecting kitty litter to help reach our January goal of 50 26lb containers of scented clumping kitty litter!

Faith - Faith has been working so hard in her foster home to adjust to life outside of the kennel. Faith can be a little shy 🙈 and is trying to build her confidence (she is doing AMAZING 🌟, THANKS FOSTER MAMA). She is such a kind, gentle soul who deserves a forever family! Faith would really benefit from having another four legged friend 🐶 to help teach her the ropes and build her confidence. Faith is so so close to earning that gold star ⭐️ as fully potty trained pup. She is an absolute sweetheart, she just needs a family with a little patience to give her a chance! You can help us find the perfect family to put a smile on Faith’s face by sharing her post! Right now we have a lot of Wee-One’s to pick to from! Today we’re going to feature Aurora. Aurora, definitely gives off princess 👑 energy! This little cutie and her siblings were found dumped on a rural road. Luckily they were found by people who cared 💗 about their little lives enough to get them somewhere safe and to contact us! Aurora is around 7 weeks old and our best guess is that she is a Golden Retriever/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. We are confident that she is 100 percent CUTE! Now Aurora is ready for her next adventure, finding her forever family! If you want to add Aurora to your life, fill out an application!

Meet Ethel! ❤️ One of our long-timer’s at the rescue. Ethel is around 5 years old and has spent the majority of her life at the rescue. So, she isn’t potty trained, but she’s smart so with some patience we think she’ll catch on quickly! She is as sweet as can be. LOVES people and LOVES attention. She can be a little clingy, but living her life at the shelter who can blame her wanting to soak up all the love 🥰 she can get! She has medium energy, so a nice walk 🐾 and then snuggling up together sounds like a perfect day for this girl. She gets along well with other dogs 🐶too. We would love to see Ethel spend the rest of her days (and she’s got a lot left to give!) in a home where she can be loved 💗and spoiled! A peek at our little family, Momma is doing wonderful too. She is such a wonderful attentive mom. Her littles are growing like weeds! These babies will be ready for our end of Jan pickup date. We have some pups 🐶 at the rescue (and in foster care) who have been patiently waiting for their forever! To help them find homes🏡, a generous donor has sponsored some of their adoption fee. New Year, New You, New PUP!

Welcome 2025! Our rescue pups are so excited to be barking in a new year! Their paws are crossed 🐾that their forever humans will find them in 2025! They’ve all thought of some New Year’s resolutions they’d love to help you with. ❤️

Whether you’re checking out a new trail, or enjoying a beloved spot where you know every tree, Spencer is always up for adventure!

Spencer truly is a loyal fun guy. He has such a fun active personality and is eager to learn all the basics. This smart guy enjoys treats🦴, so training should be easy with him. Spencer gets a long well with the other pups at the rescue and has loved every human he’s met! Spencer would love ❤️ to have a family so he can show off what a good boy he is.

‼️FOSTER NEEDED‼️Frannie girl has been patiently waiting for her forever family. 🥰 Sadly, due to life changes, her current foster can’t keep Frannie any longer💔. If we can’t find a new foster, or permanent, home for Frannie soon she will have to go back to the rescue in Arkansas 😢 While in foster care Frannie has gotten used to naps and snuggles 🥰on the sofa, endless love and attention, and has learned so many skills (fully crate and potty trained). Life at the rescue isn’t for this girl and if she goes back to Arkansas it will be so much harder for her to find that perfect family 🥰Do you have some extra room for this loving pup? Our Story

Dedicated to helping the homeless animals in our city, community, and state by providing temporary shelter and finding them forever homes and providing sanctuary to those that might not be adoptable. We rescue, love n rehome the forgotten lives that find themselves abandoned and alone! We pick them up and show them their worth! Help us be their voice!

Our rescue is located in Arkansas. Our Adoption partners are in the Chicago area. We use a few different No Kill Rescue/Adoption organizations. We try to have pictures of all adoptable pets posted on our Adoptions page. If you see a pet you like message us and we can provide more information on that pet.
