Rin’s journey began as an abandoned kitty, but since coming into our care, she’s shown nothing but love and sweetness. She’s a cuddler, an explorer, and even tolerates the occasional hat moment. 😉

Believe it or not, River has been at Forsyth Humane Society for 113 days. 🤯 That's 113 days TOO MANY for such an amazing dog. Fortunately, River has spent most of that time with her foster, but she deserves to find her forever home. Help us find River her perfect match! 💜

- She's 1 year, 4 months old and 53lbs
- She's housebroken and knows most basic commands (sit, down, etc.)
- She LOVES other dogs and would be happy to have a doggy sibling
- She's food motivated and a quick learner
- She's kid-friendly and does well at places like breweries/coffee shops
- She CAN jump fences, so she shouldn't be left alone outside unsupervised
- She loves to go for walks and adventure outdoors

We're BACK with our first Fit for Paws event of 2025! 🏋️⬇️

Join us for a 60-minute yoga class with Kelly from Breathe Yoga Studio. This class is open to all levels, and a $25 donation that directly supports Forsyth Humane Society secures your spot! The class is from 3 to 4 p.m. at Forsyth Humane Society (4881 Country Club Rd.).

After class, meet some of our adorable shelter dogs and puppies (if puppies are available)! Please bring your own yoga mat.

Today, we want to thank the Savage Roasters Coffee team in Kernersville for their support of Forsyth Humane Society! 🤩🐾

They offered their customers the opportunity to "round up" on purchases through the month of December to benefit FHS. We are so grateful for this generous gift of $1650.00, which will go a long way in helping our animals. In addition to their check donation, they donated two truckloads of pet food to ensure our furry friends stay well-fed and happy.

Vinny is popping in with an hours update! We're SNOW ready for this weekend—we've adjusted our hours to help keep everyone safe and warm. 👀❄️⬇️

When we rescued Lola from Madison County in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, we knew she had a tough road ahead. This sweet senior came to us as a tripod with a large tumor on her neck, lumps and bumps all over, and a mouth full of painful, rotten teeth. But even with all her challenges, Lola’s spirit shone brightly.

Lola began her healing journey thanks to an incredible foster family who opened their hearts and homes. At first, fostering was the plan—but love has a way of changing things.

Keep reading for more of Lola's story, beautifully told by her foster mom, Tracy, who is now her forever mom. 🥹❤️⬇️

"When you all put out the call that you needed emergency fosters for the dogs you were pulling from Western North Carolina after the hurricane we put in an application to foster. We have two 11 year old bully breed dogs so we really wanted to foster another older dog. Lola was really the first senior dog I saw on your website.

When I first reached out about fostering Lola you all said that she had extensive medical issues and initially you did not think she would do well in a house with other dogs.

I ended up emailing back to say that if she simply needed a place to heal and get better (at the time I had no clue what her medical issues were) that I could still foster her if you all wanted me to because my mom lives on our property in her own little house so Lola could be in a home environment and not have to interact with our dogs.

I ended up picking her up that same day. I had no clue what her medical issues were so I was not expecting a tripod dog with a huge tumor hanging heavy from her neck, lumps and bumps all over her and a mouth full of rotten teeth! To be honest I was a bit taken aback!

After spending just a few short hours with Lola I stopped seeing all her maladies because honestly as cheesy as it sounds her inner beauty just outshined all her medical stuff. She is always happy, super resilient and just ready for life each and every day. She was and is a true beauty!

Of course we fell in love with Lola day one but we honestly were not looking to add another dog to our pack. We really were intending to simply help out and foster.

We weren't thinking we were in a position to take on Lola permanently especially given her medical issues. We were willing to foster long term but weren't ready to fully commit.

What changed...well you all were awesome about getting Lola the care she needed!

She had two pretty big surgeries...one to extrapolate seven or eight teeth and then a couple of weeks later she had another surgery to remove a tumor on her eyelid and her large neck tumor.

I am happy to say that the surgeries went really well and she is clearly feeling so much better but recuperating from the surgeries was really hard on her (and us!).

By this time she had been with us about 2 months. We simply felt like after everything she had been through already we didn't want her to have to go through anymore change so we decided to ask her if she wanted to stay with us forever!!

We ADORE her and are so happy to have her as part of our pack!

Lola was a dreamboat from the moment we got her home. The beauty of a Senior dog is they really don't sweat the small stuff. She made herself comfortable and adjusted to being here very quickly. She is absolutely great around everyone. It turns out she is also great with my other dogs. She loves car rides, going for walks, cuddling, EATING!!

Her personality is hilarious - she can be a bit aloof but she doesn't miss a trick. She likes her schedule and she expects you to stick to it! And no one sleeps harder than Miss Lola - she is adorable when she sleeps!!

She has been through alot but she is so sweet, so kind, so happy - she is pure joy! She is both one of a kind and also every dog - it breaks my heart how many amazing dogs like Lola end up in the shelter system.

I am so thankful to Forsyth Humane Society for all the wonderful work you all do. Thank you for saving Lola, investing so much in her care, allowing us to foster and then adopt her!"
