We are thrilled to introduce âLucky Charmsâ, the newest addition to our crew! Lucky is a baby barn owl and a remarkable rescue story. An incorrect splint placed by a well-meaning but medically untrained member of the public caused our little owl so much harm. They waited to bring him to a wildlife center and unfortunately his leg set making him unreleasable and a case no one wanted to touch. Lucky endured immense pain and a prolonged recovery, with uncertain prospects ALL because they didnât IMMEDIATELY take him to a wildlife center. If he wouldâve been taken to a center they couldâve reset his leg and he would be back in the wild where we wish he could be.
Despite the odds, Lucky has persevered, and we are honored to provide him a permanent home. Due to his healed but impaired leg, Lucky is unreleasable, but weâre committed to ensuring he thrives in our care. We are forever grateful for our master falconer Morgan Campbell who stayed up all hours providing *experienced* round the clock care, our veterinarian Dr. Dan Famini, who selflessly cares for all of our animals regardless of how extreme of a case we bring him. We couldnât have saved luckys life without these two people and YOU! Our programs, donations, and those who share our stories are how we fund these stories.
