HHPH friends, family and clients, many of you have probably heard about the new respiratory pathogen that is affecting dogs. Currently, the cause has not been determined, which makes specific treatment a challenge . Symptoms range from mild cough to pneumonia to respiratory distress and even death. Please know that our veterinary community is working to determine the cause and appropriate treatments to help our wonderful pups successfully beat this illness.

Current advisories are:
1) Minimize dog socializing outside of your immediate household (sound familiar)? This includes avoiding doggie day care, dog parks and boarding when possible .

2) Ensure our dogs are updated on appropriate vaccinations. Although we do not have a vaccine yet for this unidentified pathogen, we do acknowledge that a well educated immune system is better equipped to battle this illness. Relevant vaccines include a current DA2PP, a Bordetella vaccine (commonly referred to as a kennel cough vaccine) and now the Canine Influenza Vaccine. We now carry the influenza vaccine. We will be scheduling technician vaccinations to catch your pup up on any missing vaccines. Please call to see if your sweet pup is current on recommended vaccines.

3) Call us if your dog is experiencing any respiratory symptoms such as a cough , a runny nose, sneezing or difficulty breathing.

Due to the snow storm affecting Weld County and much of Colorado right now, please allow your sitter extra time to arrive today.

We always aim for our 2 hour arrival windows but with the roads as bad as they are currently, we are asking for extra time to get safely to your pets today.
