🧡Fred Update🧡

It’s not good news, but it could be worse.

Fred has GI Lymphoma and Pancreatitis. They are going to give him a fast acting steroid injection that should make him feel great, and then another longer acting injection on Monday. We are hopeful then he will be able to come home, and with injections every two weeks, he should be able to have another good year (hopefully more).

Thanks to all of you—you have been so supportive through all of this, and we hope next time you’re here, Fred will be back at his greeter post. 🧡

🧡Fred Update🧡
I got a chance to visit today, and Fred is in very good spirits. He’s off the IV, and he ate a full plate of food overnight. He loves all the attention he’s getting, and he’s constantly purring. His test results come back tomorrow, and we are hopeful he will be able to come home on Friday.

🧡Fred Update🧡

Fred spent the weekend at home, but his appetite wasn’t improving and he was not acting right. He went back to Brevard Animal Hospital yesterday, and they did some more tests, and started him on IV fluids and antibiotics. They thought it best that he stay hospitalized until his test results come back on Thursday. He has been eating some, and he has been in good spirits—he is loving all the attention they are giving him.

Thanks, everyone, for keeping him in your thoughts, and I’ll keep updating as I get more information.

Fred is home! Looks like he has a UTI. He got an antibiotic shot and some more fluids. 🧡🧡🧡

🧡🧡FRED UPDATE🧡🧡
I dropped him off this morning at 8:00, and he got an ultrasound and another appetite stimulant. His ultrasound showed a nodule on his adrenal gland, swollen lymph nodes, and some really gnarly kidneys—all of which I’m told is probably not as scary as it sounds.

They recommended that he stay the night because the doctor wants to see him again in the morning.

I’ll keep you posted as I find out more.

Yesterday Fred wasn’t feeling too great. His appetite was gone and he was just acting off. We made him an appointment at Brevard Animal Hospital and went this morning. They did bloodwork, X-rays, urinalysis, but couldn’t find anything alarming. He received fluids and an anti-nausea medication, and was told he had to stay in his condo today and tonight so we could monitor his eating and potty habits.

Things don’t seem to be improving much, so we’ll drop him back off tomorrow for them to do a couple more tests.

We know how much you all love Fred, so we wanted to keep you posted.

Our Fed Ex delivery person is very nice. He always says hello to whoever may be in the driveway when he comes, but it’s usually Fred. The dogs were out in the yard playing today when this package was delivered—I wonder if he also gave Fred a treat. 🙂

It’s the time of year when a lot of people are planning and going on their vacations. If you don’t plan on having accommodations in your hotel/rental and plan on including your dog in at least most of your plans, please consider boarding your dog close to home at the place he/she already loves.

For a few reasons, we do not accept dogs from out of town, and there are many other places that don’t either. And like many other places, we do not accept dogs on just a meet and greet.

Plan ahead and think of what’s best for your dog while you are traveling. All of our current clients know us and know that their dog is the most comfortable possible outside of their own home.

We hope you’ve had a great Thanksgiving weekend! A mystery respiratory virus in dogs has popped up in the news again, and while vets don’t know exactly what it is, they are recommending that dog parents be careful and aware. Bordetella (required here) and Flu vaccines are highly recommended—not because they protect from this new virus, but it will help your dog be protected from getting multiple illnesses at once which would decrease chances of recovery.

As always, we do not accept dogs from out of town, we make sure all vaccines are up to date (rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella), and we ask that parents not put their dogs in situations where they will come in contact with other dogs with unknown vaccine/health status.

And as usual, if your dog has any sign of illness, please cancel your appointment with us and call your vet. Thanks—we’ve never had any problems here with illness outbreaks, and we thank all of our dog parents for helping us stay that way.

Our Story

We offer daycare and boarding at our home. That's right, the dogs stay at our home--no loud, cold "facility" here :) We go through great efforts to find the best pups in all the land. If your dog would like to be a part of our super sweet, friendly, and loving family, give us a call or email well in advance of your upcoming trip, as we require a trial daycare and overnight before an extended stay to keep everyone safe and happy. We meet people and their pups BY APPOINTMENT ONLY--so please don’t just show up (for safety of the dogs and for consideration of other clients and our activities). We are also licensed by the NC Dept. of Agriculture, and we have been for 9 years.
