If anyone has a dog/pup with anxiety (especially food related) or issues chewing we were told about a stress relief lick mat. Bought 2 - 2packs which they have several to choose from but I got 2 different brands to try for Duke. He has major anxiety especially when it comes to food whether we're eating at the table or snacking in the den & also when I get a shower. I smeared mashed up banana in one & put it in the freezer. We just ate steaks (which he definitely knows when we have steak because he smells it when I'm cooking). I took a mat out & sat it on the floor a few feet away from us at the table & it worked like a charm! He barely got 1 section cleaned so we took it up & put it back in the freezer. Wish I'd known about them years ago. Bought unsweetened applesauce to use in them some & peanut butter, then mashed up banana sometimes too.

Cali's last picture frame was just delivered, not long after Mako's so I was able to finish up her memorial as well today. Since she was our 1st girl she stayed in the bedroom with us & Miles so both her & Miles memorials are in the bedroom. Cali was the Queen & our 1st Alpha & she wanted all the others to know. She was often referred to as baby girl, pretty girl, Cal girl & bitch so I was tickled to find these 2 frames to use for her memorial. I went ahead & moved Lucy to Cali's old crate but put Lucy's things in there. Cali hadn't used her crate in a year or so since we kept her in our bathroom because of the issues she was having. I won't gonna leave Lucy in the office by herself, this crate is bigger & she's our biggest dog & she's sleeping with us now anyway & just getting fed in the crate.

I had been waiting on Mako's custom frame to come in because the 1st one they messed up. It came in today so I was finally able to get her memorial finished. The big dog & smaller pup use to sit on top of her crate when she had a bedroom to herself. Kinda was to represent a dog loving & watching over a little one. Mako was happiest when she was a mama, was extremely protective & loved having puppies around to care for. She was one of our Alpha's & loved to have some of the other dogs follow her lead, showing them the ropes & being an instigator which is why I chose to do her memorial like this. *The shelf between her & Lil Bit's is reserved for when something happens to Lucy, that way Lil Bit will have her 2 pups (Lucy & Kibbles) surrounding her.

Earlier me & Aaron were sitting in the den. The house was quiet, didn't even have the TV on & I distinctly heard Mako do her little whine she use to do when it was getting time to switch her & Cali out. (All our dogs sound different when they breathe, snore, bark & even walk.) I looked up at Aaron & said, I just her Mako & he immediately said I did too.❤️🐾🌈

And just a little over a month later we say goodbye to our 1st female Bullnese & the start of LuvaBullnese. We got Cali in 2007 when our son wasn't quite 7 years old so she's been a member of or family for over 16 years. Cali had more personality than any dog I've ever had or known. We could tell early on that she was gonna rule the roost. For years we had as many as 7 Bullnese & even a Saint Bernard so our house has always been full of dogs, not counting all the puppies over the years & now, we are down to 2 & everything seems so different. She out-lived several of our others as well as several of her puppies. She's always been so healthy but had developed doggie dementia & over the last 2 years she was slowly declining & it was progressing more & more with time. It was effecting her neurological system in many ways among other things so we had to make a hard decision & do what was best for her. Still, a very hard decision to make non the less, especially after 16 years. She's definitely one of the best dogs we've ever had & she will be missed dearly. Rest easy my pretty girl. (Someone in the vet across the lobby today I heard tell someone else, I don't know what kinda dog that is but she's cute. They had a Frenchie.) And she was. 5/12/2007~7/21/2023

And then there were 3...Today we had to say goodbye to our sweet girl Mako. She was sweet but feisty, she'd let you know if she didn't like something or someone. She was a protector (the watcher on the wall), she was territorial especially of her crate & was a alpha female (we had 2 alphas). She was the best mama dog we had & she loved being a mama, that's when she seemed happiest. She was the only dog we had that was polite as far as having manners & she would ask to get the toy cabinet open for her so she could climb or snoop around in there to pick out a toy, she would ask to get on the couch & a lot of times wouldn't until she was told it was okay but she won't real easy when it came to taking food or treats (she was like a shark & lived up to her name). She was definitely a daddy's girl. She was a great dog & was always happy. She will be missed but I know she is better off. She out lived several of her pups & she would've lasted a few more, had it not been for cancer. Cancer sucks. My eyes are burning. 😥 Rest easy my sweet girl. We love you 5/3/08~6/9/23

Cali had her bloodwork rechecked today after taking liver & gallbladder meds since February. Her ALT is down from 268 to 220, her ALKP is down from 489 to 272 & her GGT is down from 36 to 24. Even though they're still high they have come down a good bit in a short amount of time. We can even tell a difference in how she's been. So thankful.🙂❤

Cali still has the biggest personality of any dog I've seen. She is a "female dog" to put it nicely. Lol She loves to back talk too & here in the last few weeks Robert has started flipping her off when she's being sassy. He'll have his arm down out to the side & he'll throw his middle finger out at her & she'll jump up & act like she's gonna bite his finger. She actually gets his finger in her mouth but is gentle & then when she gets back on the floor she looks at him, blows her jaws out & huffs at him. He did it several times tonight & she jumped up at his finger every time. I said she knows you're being ugly, she don't like anyone being ugly to her, she's the one that likes being ugly. 😂

Cali had blood work the other day. She was given 2 meds to start taking because some things were a little high in range dealing with her gall bladder & liver. They said they'd recheck her in a couple months to see if the meds help. Today she had another dental cleaning & 2 extractions. They said overall she still seems to be doing good for almost 14.
