The foxtails are out all over the Seattle area. They seem to be part of every grass strip and median area. They are close to telephone poles on street corners and more. PLEASE BE CAREFUL. Do not let your dog near them. At minimum, they can cause swollen paws, nasal injuries and more. At their worst, they can be fatal as their pieces can work their way into a dog's body and actually get into their organs including their hearts. If you have these on your property, please remove them to protect animals. Please share this as many people aren't aware how dangerous this invasive w**d is to pets.

Every year between June and August we see many dogs with these pesky pokey little grass seeds (foxtails) working their way into feet, ears, and even under eyelids. Sometimes they require surgery to be removed. You will see grass seeds typically growing in clumps (but can be more sparse) under trees,...

The Project Canine pack is sending up a sad howl in honor of Leonard Foxhound Mix. We are 💔 to share that Leonard recently crossed the rainbow bridge. 🌈 Leonard was a special dog and he loved being a therapy dog. While he enjoyed people in general he had a special gift with the elderly. He and his handler Marion brought lots of smiles and joy to their visitors and our hearts are with Marion as she navigates this profound loss. Good night sweet Leonard. We will always miss you. Run free. 💜

GiveBIG is TODAY! Therapy dogs are truly magical and if you look at the photo you will see Wiley Doodle joyously spreading the love. On Wiley's first visit ever one of his young visitors was petting him and said, "this is the best day of my life." It was a beautiful example of therapy dog magic. Please help us continue to make these magical visits a reality at even more locations. There is so much demand and we need your help to scale up to meet it. You can support Project Canine here: https://www.wagives.org/organization/project-canine-inc 🐕‍🦺 🐾

TODAY AND TOMORROW is GiveBIG! This fundraiser is so important for our organization and we hope you will choose to support us. If you look at this photo of Leonard Hound Mix you will see the glow of therapy dog magic that he and all of our therapy dogs bring when they visit with those who need kindness, compassion, and connection. Our teams visit in so many locations and the demand from the community is so high to provide more visits to more locations. We need your support to make that happen. There is an outbreak of parvo in Renton. If you live near the park named in the article please be very careful. If you know dog owners in Renton please spread the word. Parvo is very serious and can be fatal.

Happy Tails Animal Hospital in Renton is sounding the alarm for a deadly, highly contagious virus that dog owners need to be aware of.

Your eyes are not deceiving you! You are not seeing double! 👀 We did post a Doberman on Monday, and now we are posting another one that is his "brother." This is Musket! His big brother Ricochet was posted on Monday. We are happy to share that Musket is certifying for the first time with his handler Deneese of the The Canine Resource Center. Ricochet and Musket are related and they both are both big sweetie pies. We are looking forward to seeing the joy Musket will bring on visits. Welcome Musket!!

This happy Lab face belongs to Mozart. He and his handler Chris have passed their exam and we want to give them a big welcome. Mozart is part of a legacy of dogs and a family who have been with us for many years. Three family members have been certified with us and Mozart is their 4th therapy dog. We are so grateful to have them in our community and for all the beautiful things they have done as teams over the years. From visits to a traumatic brain injury facility to Special Olympics this family and their pups have made a huge difference. 💜

"If I can ease one life the aching, or cool one pain..." This resonates so much with our vision of "enriching lives moment by moment." As therapy dog teams, we can't cure anyone or take away their problems or fix anything, but we can provide comfort, compassion and connection in the moment. And in those moments, we see the magic of therapy dogs.

Emily Dickinson 💔

''If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.''

Project Canine Certifies Therapy Dogs

Project Canine is a therapy dog education, certification and outreach program. We have certified teams from northern Washington state to southern Oregon. Our certified teams go out into the community and share compassion, kindness and connection with people in a variety of settings including hospitals, eldercare facilities, at-risk youth facilities and so much more. We have a 4-step program for certifying our teams. If you are interested in certifying with your dog please go to our website and www.projectcanine.org
