Todays adventure included Little Foot the Tortoise and a tiny yet full grown Nigerian Dwarf Doe. I always expect this doe to get bigger each time I trim her hooves but nope! She is itty bitty, about the size of a 5-6 month old!

What’s hanging out in your animals gut? Having a f***l egg count done can let you know. Deworming on a schedule like many farmers have done for decades has caused tons of parasite resistance. Without a FEC you never know what you’re treating or if your treatment is even successful. Have a FEC run and be sure your animals are in tip top shape!

When should you have a FEC done?
1. Change in stool
2. Poor FAMCHA
3. New animal in your herd
4. Weight loss
5. After kidding or times of stress

I trimmed this cute gal and noticed she had the cutest horns! Usually they stay pretty straight due to goats rubbing and scratching them on things. These were to adorable with their little curl😜

Since Bree wasn’t showing the improvement you would expect I took her into the vet. Diagnostics and a probe showed a puncture tract. 😩 We are hopeful it missed any important structures. Dr. Mike Walburger of did an amazing job figuring out what the issue was. Here’s to a speedy recovery!

Hammie got a nice hoof and tusk trim today! If you can believe it that tusk was rubbing a sore on his cheek 😢 Look closely and you can see the raw spot. He will feel much better now!

F***l Egg Count- should you have one done on your animal?

YES YES YES! A million times yes.

“Why can’t I just deworm them with what’s sold in stores? Aren’t all dewormers the same?”

NO NO NO! A billion times no.

Deworming medications have become more and more ineffective over the years due to misuse/overuse. Parasites have become resistant to treatment. With a f***l egg count you’ll know exactly what dewormer to use and at what newly recommended dosages. Signs of high parasite loads include anemia, loss of appetite, weight loss, lethargy, spread to herd members, and in the worst case scenario death.

Have a f***l egg count performed on your animals and be confident you’re treating correctly! $30

I severed a tendon in my foot and am having surgery tomorrow 😭I will unfortunately be in a big boot for 6-8 weeks and not cleared to drive at all. Of course I’ll be back and able to catch up on trims and training with you all once I’m healed up. I’m so glad I have such awesome and understanding clients!
