Cashew ran away from his foster mom this morning and is currently missing. If you live on the Westside (specifically around the Bijou Elementary School area) or downtown, please keep an eye out for him. He’s a sweet older boy but can be a bit skittish. He has tags and is microchipped. If spotted or found, let me know and I will pass on the info.

The next time you’re out with your pup on a walk, try incorporating puppy parkour! Use whatever you find – walls, rocks, benches, etc. The world is your oyster!

This is great way to change up your pup’s routine and help them build confidence in what can be a scary world.

Bella (pictured) thoroughly enjoyed climbing on all kinds of things today after our walk became too overwhelming. Watching her face light up after I asked her to jump up on a rock made my day!

Everyone knows the importance of giving your dog enough physical exercise, but did you know mental stimulation is equally as important? Look below for some easy tips on challenging your pup’s 🧠

• Teach them a new trick/training
• Feed them their kibble in a new way (i.e. scattering it on the floor or in the yard, rolling it up in a towel)
• Puzzle toys
• Take them on a sniffari
• Play hide & seek
• Give them a new toy or rotate out existing toys

Do you let your dog sniff on walks? You absolutely should! Here’s why 👇🏻

The part of a dog’s brain responsible for processing olfactory stimuli is 40x larger than that of a human. Meaning dogs can essentially “see” the world through their noses. By allowing your dog to use this powerful sense, you are helping them better understand & discover the world.

Sniffing is a calming behavior that also provides mental stimulation. In fact, a sniffari (as I like to call it) has been proven to be more beneficial than a purely exercise walk for tiring out dogs.

A favorite walking trail of mine burned a few days ago.

I’m so happy that the fire was put out quickly, no houses were damaged, and no people were injured.

That one was a little too close to home.
