We see a lot of people who believe they have a maine c**n, because that's what they were told by the person selling them the cat. ALOT of these cats look like your every day long haired cat and not actual Maine c**ns, at least not purebred.
A couple things to look for to KNOW you have a real Maine c**n (*other than the fact you should get some type of registration showing they are purebred and registered with a cat association)
* Maine c**ns have tuffs on their ears
* Maine c**ns have tuffs on their paws
* Maine c**ns faces are broader and more intense looking than "domestic" long haired cats (think Lion-like)
* Maine c**ns have an almost puppy like personality.. if your cat is attacking you/aggressive...good chances it's not a Maine c**n. Obviously each cat has it's own personality but aggression is not a trait of this breed... They are clingers and seek out attention constantly..they want to be loved on 24/7
*A purebred, well bred Maine c**n will NOT be cheap👌 #1 biggest giveaway when asking the price if your cat is under 1k ...chances are you're over paying for an every day long haired domestic cat😬 hopefully there's at least a little Maine c**n mixed in 🤞
Thomas isn't a year old yet but here's his tuffs for ears and paws... And you can tell his face is more triangular and defined ...as he gets older the broadness will keep popping out in his face❤️
Don't worry guys, we too fell victim to mixed Maine c**ns our first go around... Took a step back and educated ourselves on being able to identify a true Maine c**n and then found a breeder that had proof of happy buyers and grown up cats proving they had real pure Maine c**ns, and of course they are registered with TICA.
