Today, Jewel underwent bloodwork at the vet to monitor her thyroid function, part of her yearly breeding evaluations. Following OFA's breed-specific recommendations for Doberman Pinschers, we ensure she receives all required annual tests. The sample will be sent to a certified laboratory and then to OFA for official certification. Jewel conducted herself impeccably in the waiting area alongside a teacup Yorkie and Husky, and handled the blood draw with ease. She is currently taking a nap after an exciting few hours out of the house.

HAPPY 249TH BIRTHDAY TO THE UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS!

The Marines have always distinguished themselves in battle because they possess the willingness and determination to fight and keep fighting until victory is assured. Their history is filled with stories of distinction – those defining moments we can all look back on and gain inspiration from. Their greatness was never more apparent than during World War II where they played a central role in nearly every significant island battle. They had the ability to improvise, adapt, and overcome every single obstacle in every situation even when the odds were stacked against them and seemed too impossible to overcome. They never gave up and they never backed down and we won the war due to their unwavering commitment to emerge victorious.

The U.S. Marine War Dog Platoon was established in 1942 and many Dobermans and German Shepherds were enlisted and served. They were the perfect selection for this type of work due to their high trainability, quick responsiveness and natural athleticism. Like the Marines they served alongside of, these two breeds possessed an unrelenting determination to achieve excellence in everything they did.

After the attack on Pearl Harbor, the DPCA was among the many who answered the call that renewed the American spirit and unified the nation. That patriotism gave our breed a higher purpose. They were enlisted, assigned rank, and then trained to be combat-ready Marines. While they were in the South Pacific, the lines were never surprised, there was never an ambush of Marines when they were on watch, and they delivered important messages when communication lines were cut. They saved countless lives and we could not be prouder of the dogs that earned their place in the Marine’s elite brotherhood.

President Ronald Reagan once said: “Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference. The Marines don’t have that problem.” Enjoy your birthday Marines and SEMPER FI!

We made it through the storm and we are all safe. We do have a hurt chicken from a branch falling on it 😩🥹. Lots of debris/branches, fencing, fireplace top flew off and we lost power at 3:30AM. Our shop flooded and we lost half of our roof.
I hope all of our GBA Dobermans family and friends/followers made it through safely! You all have been heavily on our minds. Jewel’s current OFA’s for Eyes were NORMAL and her Echocardiogram was also NORMAL. She will have her 24 hour Holter Monitor done this month. Her Hips and elbows will be scheduled in November along with her Thyroid.

Happy endings do come true!
He has a family committed to giving him a great life with lots of love and attention. He is getting settled in and will get some much needed training soon. He has gone to a phenomenal family whom was on my waiting list for a Jewel puppy. When they saw Ace they contacted me immediately. I have gotten to know his new Dad over the last year and always had a great impression of him. Then his past owners and I went for a meet and greet with him and his lovely family last Sunday. They spent the last week preparing the home for him and getting all the necessities he needed. They were thrilled to pick him up yesterday! Especially since their kids were out of school and they really got to enjoy him. He loves car rides and he loaded right up in his new Dad’s Jeep and he looked like he belonged right away.
Rehoming is always an adjustment for the dog, new owners and past owners. Keep them all in your good thoughts and prayers.

ADOPTION Update! 🚨 🐾
We have the most amazing adoptive family lined up for Ace! We did a home visit with the adoptive family and Ace on Sunday at their home and feel this is the perfect family for him. He will be going to his new home on Friday with weather permitting. They are committed to giving him the life and love he deserves. We will keep in touch with his new family and help them in every way to make sure this is a successful adoption. Congrats Hernandez Family on your new four legged family member!

Looking for a Loving Home for one of our past pups. 15-Month-Old Male Neutered Doberman whom is 75% European and 25% American. He is a Bella Nova X Versailles ast pup.

Due to a change in my son's living situation, we are seeking a new, loving home for his 15-month-old Doberman Ace. He needs a space where he can thrive as the ONLY dog, ideally with a strong, dedicated male leader whom can invest time in his training and development. He is still a big 90lb puppy!

About Him:

Behavior: He has shown some slight signs of aggression and got into an altercation with our female dogs whom are unaltered, whom have never been aggressive before. Had this not happened he would be placed in our home. This incident was out of character for him and our girls, and he has not had any similar issues with any other dogs since. He can be a bit nippy at times and is very alpha.
Personality: Despite his challenges, he is a big lover. He enjoys water hoses, walks, ear rubs, kisses, snuggling, sleeping in the bed, fetch, car rides, and chewing hard toys. He is also good with nail trim with the Dremel and knows commands like sit, down, stay, and paw.
Training Needs: He is possessive of his crate when he has a bone and is a counter surfer, but we are working on these issues. He responds well to training and has a lot of potential. He needs more consistency and positive reinforcement.

Requirements for His New Home:

Must own your home or and have a fenced yard.
Making sure his veterinary care continues and flea & tick medication for his health. He is due for his annual exam and shots in October of 2024.
Willingness to continue his training and address his behavioral needs.
No small children, as he requires a stable environment with someone experienced in handling alpha dogs.
If you believe you can provide the right environment for him and are ready to invest in his continued training and well-being, please reach out to discuss further.

We hope to find his forever home where he can thrive and be his best self. He deserves the BEST!

At just shy of 3 years old Jewel has filled out nicely. She is the perfect girl. She always has my back and is always eager to please me. Today we did some training outside and our regular UPS driver came right up to the gate and she was the perfect little lady. He said how nice it’s been watching her grow over the last three years. He couldn’t believe how perfectly she heeled next to me and sat patiently while he handed me a package through the fence and talked for a couple minutes. Thanks to Dog Training by Vanessa for getting her and I on track with training from the beginning.

On our way to Dr. Maavrik’s this morning. Oh, she was not happy with the man panhandling near our vehicle. Jewel will have another progesterone test on Wednesday. We are getting closer!!!

Puppy mush and it was a hit! They loved it! Bella Nova loved helping them clean up the leftovers since obviously I don’t know how to feed for two. 😂🤣🐾🐾🐷🐷💙🩷

Day 16: We just finished up ENS Exercises and the puppies now are introduced to a potty zone. We have pine shavings under a potty pad to get them use to sent of pine/outdoors. When they get bigger they will have a drop down potty tray system to keep their area tidy and clean. When they 💩 it will drop down to potty pads underneath the metal grate so they don’t walk or play in their potty area and get yucky and it makes it easier for clean ups for me. So it’s a win win! Their tails are almost all healed up and looking fabulous!
