Today is Evaluate Your Life day. Which, synchronously enough, supports my horoscope from .app . At first blush, I thought I had failed this Universal Coaching. Further evaluation, however, has me seeing and celebrating, the ways the Grief I’m journey through, is helping me metamorphose my routines. And the animals are teaching me too. I’m trying to share the stories as fast as they occur - it’s just taking a bit to find my rhythm. Understandably so.

All is as it should be.

Shortly after my dad passed away, he visited me in a dream. It was so vivid and unique, it was only something he could do. In the dream, he helped me call in Bear Energy. Working with it so far into my journey with grief over my dad’s passing and moving my mom into a care facility has been helpful. And we’ve only just begun.

This is my first column for Trust the Animals that will be a new series on Grief. Because I hope to write a book from it - thanks again to Bear - most of the article is behind a paywall. Connecting animals and humans

On a freezing, cold day in January 2003, I was on my way back to my day job when I spotted a young dog wandering around in a bad part of town. I had been moonlighting as a dog trainer for a few years and used every behavioral skill I had to coax the pup toward me for over 45 minutes. When he finally decided I was the real deal, he jumped in my car and looked at me as if to say “alright then, let’s go!” That decision led to a tightly bound relationship between me and Bono, a german shepherd mix, for the following 15 years. Today, almost 2 years since his passing, he is still by my side, as my Spirit Guide. Bono led me down the path to become an Animal Communicator and to become more connected to nature and to my spiritual self. It is in his honor that I started Spiritus Animal Communication. He and I believe that humans need to be aware of our place in nature if we are to realize our full potential and understand our place in the universe.
