Yule is a midwinter festival with origins in ancient pagan traditions, particularly among the Germanic and Norse peoples. Celebrated around the winter solstice, Yule marked the shortest day and longest night of the year, symbolizing the rebirth of the sun and the promise of longer, brighter days ahead. Central to Yule were rituals honoring nature, fertility, and the cycles of the earth. Key customs included burning the Yule log to ward off darkness and evil spirits, feasting, singing, and decorating homes with evergreens like holly, ivy, and mistletoe to symbolize eternal life and protection.

With the spread of Christianity, Yule traditions were incorporated into Christmas celebrations, blending pagan and Christian customs. The Yule log evolved into modern practices such as the decorative log cake or burning candles during the holiday season. Many Yule customs, such as wreaths, Christmas trees, and feasting, remain integral to contemporary Christmas festivities. Today, Yule is also celebrated by modern pagans and Wiccans, who honor it as part of the Wheel of the Year, a series of seasonal festivals that connect practitioners to nature and ancient traditions.

It's HOT out there! ☀️ 🔥 Please be cautious about having your dog accompany you to outdoor events (especially if they are on pavement!) and be sure they have lots of shade and fresh water when they do need to be outside. Do you know how to recognize signs of heat stroke in dogs?

If you observe these signs, get your dog out of the heat and to a veterinarian immediately - heat stroke can escalate fast!

I’m just going to be blunt here -
If you bring me your double coated dog and want it shaved for any reason other than it being medically necessary, I will curse under my breath the ENTIRE time I’m doing so.

FYI:
It doesn’t keep them cooler
It doesn’t stop them from shedding
It can cause their coat to not grow back
They don’t look cute

Schedule regular deshed grooms with me.
Let’s make sure their coats don’t get impacted
Regular desheds help with shedding!
Brushing at home helps with shedding
Double coated dogs stay cooler in summer and warmer in winter WITH THE COAT THEY WERE MADE TO HAVE!!!

Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
