It's HOT out there! ☀️ 🔥 Please be cautious about having your dog accompany you to outdoor events (especially if they are on pavement!) and be sure they have lots of shade and fresh water when they do need to be outside. Do you know how to recognize signs of heat stroke in dogs?

If you observe these signs, get your dog out of the heat and to a veterinarian immediately - heat stroke can escalate fast!

I’m just going to be blunt here -
If you bring me your double coated dog and want it shaved for any reason other than it being medically necessary, I will curse under my breath the ENTIRE time I’m doing so.

FYI:
It doesn’t keep them cooler
It doesn’t stop them from shedding
It can cause their coat to not grow back
They don’t look cute

Schedule regular deshed grooms with me.
Let’s make sure their coats don’t get impacted
Regular desheds help with shedding!
Brushing at home helps with shedding
Double coated dogs stay cooler in summer and warmer in winter WITH THE COAT THEY WERE MADE TO HAVE!!!

This is the second dog in the last two weeks that we’ve had come in to our hospital with this type of bone stuck around it’s mandible. Separate companies but the EXACT same design.

Please do NOT buy this type of bone for your pup! It’s not worth the risk. Luckily for this patient, our technician was able to wiggle it free but our previous patient was under general anesthesia for nearly a half hour while we went through every tool in our arsenal to saw through both sides of the bone safely.
Both dogs are lucky that they did not end up with lacerations or broken teeth.

Jade's TOO HOT to Trot Report. It is currently 5:15 pm in Phoenix and the air temp is 112 degrees. The black top is 150.0 degrees, the concrete is 142.4, the landscape rock is 141.2 degrees, the pavers are 143.3 and the dirt is 141.3 degrees. If you cannot hold your hand on the surface with pressure for a slow count of 10 or if it is uncomfortable then it is TOO HOT to walk the dog. Dog booties will *OVER HEAT* your dog, they are appropriate for walking from your car (park, place shoes on and cross the parking lot) to the vet or other and then remove.
If you are not willing to go barefoot along side of your dog then do not walk your dog on hot surfaces. Be a dog advocate, your dog cannot voice its discomfort. PROACTIVE VS REACTIVE.

Hello my dog lovers! I wanted to reach out and share some tips on how to help keep your dog safe and comfortable during fireworks as we near July 1 and 4th 🐾🎆

1️⃣ Close windows and curtains
2️⃣ Keep your dog inside
3️⃣ Play soothing music
4️⃣ Offer your pooch a raw bone or an enrichment toy filled with their favourite food
5️⃣ Give a naturally calming remedy like Aconite 1M or 200CH, or Bach Flower Rescue Remedy. For Aconite - also known as Aconitum Napellus - give three pellets, three hours apart. You can find this remedy in a local homeopathic pharmacy and give it throughout the day before the fireworks start.
6️⃣ Ensure all ID tags are on and up to date
