Hello beer brewing folks! As you can see the hops are flowering and picking season will begin in about 2/3 weeks! We’ll be open for “you-pick’ or “we-pick” for your fresh hop needs. If you have a specific fresh hop for your recipe, give me a call and I’ll reserve your request

Hello folks, sorry for being so late to post but projects and weather got in the way.
Mollys Hops will be open for business by the end of July this year. We’ve already have flowerettes on most of the varieties and I suspect the buds will be ready by early August.
Spring was hard on the Columbus variety so my yield will be less that expected. But, all there other 13 varities fared well.
If there is a particular hop you need, please give me a call and we’ll get dates and amounts figured out.

Hello all!
I have an opportunity to come into possession of a pellet machine. It’s inclusive with the hopper and all the essential equipment.

My issue is, it’s a 2500 lb machine that runs on 220 and takes up space.

If I can get several hop growers interested, I can form a co-op and everyone can use it.

Ladies and gents, this will be the last week hops will be available for purchase. I have Cascades, Cluster (Meeker hops) and Haller-Tau available along with Columbus, Magnums, Willamette’s, Chinooks and Fuggles.
I can fill nano-brewers requests up to 50 lbs. Call to set a time for purchase of picking!

Just want to give a shout out to Taylor from Snapshot Brewing in Greenwood Seattle. He got 15+ pounds of fresh hops for their next brew. Great conversation regarding future collaborations with some of the other varieties I have. I’ll be there on the 12th of Sept to try the fresh hop brew!!!!1

Just an update on the picking timetable. Most of all the rows are flowering. I give them about 2 weeks befor the hops begin to appear. By the first week of August we should be ready for some early harvesting.
Stay tuned for further updates!!!

Fresh Hop Picking is on!!! With this great weather, all of the varieties are ready for harvest.

Good afternoon to all the home brewers, micro brewers and florists. After a wet and long spring, the hops finally took off. The new Centenials I planted took a beating and most didn’t recover but there is enough for picking.

We will be open for picking right after the Labor Day weekend. Right now, 11 of the 14 varieties will be ready. The Cascades, Haller-Tau and Clusters will need an extra week.

The Columbus, Willamette, Magnum, Chinook, Fuggles, Mt. Hood, Sterling, Comet, Northern Brewers and Centenals will be available.

Our website is being developed as I post. It will be called Mollys Hops and Events. The site will be under construction until November and available after the 1st of Jan 2023. We are looking to host small events in the yard and field next summer.

Hi folks,
As you know, I have an urban hop farm here on 120th and Vickery.
I ordered the final 40 rhizomes needed to complete the field and they were delivered at the first of this month.

Yesterday, I got a second order from the same company. I checked with them and was told there was no way they can accept them back and to enjoy this second and free order.

So, I have about 36 Centennial hop rhizomes to get rid of. First come first serve. You can call me at 253-651-4524 and we’ll set up a time for you to stop by to get them!

Hello all!,
It’s picking time!!!
Here’s the list of hops that are ready;

Cascades. Columbus. Northern Brewer. Comet. Sterling. Mt. Hood. Fuggles. Golding. Chinook. Magnums. Williamette. Centennials and Halley-Tau

The Clusters and Cascades are just a bit behind but there are some bines that are ready to go.

We will be open Friday, Saturday afternoon, Sunday and Monday.

We want to thank the Puyallup Brew Crew home brewers club for their visit to Molly’s Hops yesterday.
We had about 10 folks and toured the field discussing planting, watering, fertilizing, drying and when to pick. It was fun to talk hops with hop heads!

It looks like a couple of varieties will be ready by this next weekend. I’ll post on Molly’s Hops page and my personal page (Frank Gibson) when their ready!

Hello all and welcome to year 5 , 2021.

Last year was a challenge with the COVID-19 pandemic and the wild fires. We had a small scare this early spring with a triple bypass but everything worked out for the best.

This year we planted 36 Centennial plants to go along with the other 13 varieties. All of the plants are coming up and we’re training, pruning and fertilizing this weekend.

We still want our main focus to be the “home brewer”, but we will now pick for large orders with a pre-order deposit. This would be 50 lbs. or more. I can promise a next day delivery.

We will also cut for floral arrangements. Again, I would need a pre-order to deliver same or next day delivery.

When the field gets a little higher, I’ll post pictures. Please feel to call me if you have questions or just want to stop by for a visit. We love to talk beer!
