Ghetto Rescue FFoundation (GRFF) GRFF is 501(c)3-Police/Fire/Community HELPING and rescuing beautiful L A street & shelter DOGS! We represent a group of regular people with unusual jobs.
(187)

We are police, fire and civilian personnel dedicating our free time to helping animals and families in need. Most of us work in the lower income areas of the greater Los Angeles area. We come across animals in every situation imaginable that need someone to care enough to act on their behalf. We try to. The people helping these animals have no personal gain other than doing the right thing. We are

non profit. For years we have been working only through word of mouth, along a network of people who feel the same way about helping animals in need. We ask only that you spread the word by pressing the "like" button. That way, when we post a puppy needing a home, you can help spread the word. Tell someone you know who's looking for a dog, or re post it on your wall so your friends can see. You never know whose heart and home are open to an addition to their family, or can who foster a puppy who's waiting for a great home. Thank you for helping us connect people and animals.

Sweet Magificient Mallory has been doing great in her foster home and is accepting applications.

She’s just a few months old, current on vaccinations and microchipped. Miss Mallory will be spayed soon.

Florence Dusty is enjoying napping at her foster home. She loves this cozy, soft blanket. 💕

Florence gets her staples removed tomorrow so we’ll get some better photos then.

This sweet granny is going to be ready for a forever home very soon! She’d make an amazing lap dog and companion for a lucky person, without all of that puppy nonsense to deal with.

🩷 Cutie Kit Kat is available. PLEASE comment, share or leave an emoji so she can get more exposure. The more likes, comments, shares and saves a post has, the more it will come up on other people’s feeds.

Kit Kat is a spayed, young adult pittie mix. She loves all people, squeaky toys and going for walks. She’d make an excellent jogging or hiking companion. This girl just wants to be with her person.

Kit Kat is current on vaccinations and microchipped. She’d do best as the only dog. She has been around cats, but doesn’t like when they run from her, so it’s probably best if she doesn’t have kitty siblings.

This girl is a lover and would make an excellent companion.

Kit Kat is available to be adopted within a six hour drive of Los Angeles. She is available for foster to adopt; you foster her for a while and if it’s a love connection, you officially adopt her. 💕

🐕 January is National Walk Your Pet Month.

Walking your pet is great exercise for them and you. It also allows your pet to stimulate their mind with outdoor sights and scents. Their sense of smell is so much better than ours; allowing them to sniff makes them so happy.

Let the walk be about your pet, not you. Allow them to sniff to their hearts content.

How often do you walk your pet?

We picked up Minty’s ashes. She sure deserved better. We gave her love and medical care. We are thankful she crossed our path even if just for a few hours.

How many cats and kittens are out there suffering like Minty? People walked past Minty and some even fed her.

Now we know not everyone can pick up a sick cat and take it to a Vet, but come on, you can pick up a phone. Call any local agencies, post pictures on your social media, do something! Also get the name and employee number of anyone you speak with and that can be posted on your social media too!

We receive messages from people who find a dog or cat and want to know if we can take it in and find it a good home. The simple answer to that is no. A reputable group will not take in a lost animal and then adopt it out. It’s likely someone’s pet and we do not take people’s pets.

If you find a pet, the first thing to do is take it to a vet or a shelter to have them scan for a microchip. If it doesn’t have one there are a couple of things you can do:

1. Take the pet to the shelter so that it’s family can find it. The first place people go when they lose a pet is to the shelter. We know many people don’t like to do this because they are afraid the pet will be killed. When you drop the pet off ask for the impound number and the date it will become available should it not be claimed. You can always go back and adopt it yourself if you’re interested. Also, many shelters are “no kill.”

2. Keep the pet safe at your place and post flyers in the neighborhood where the pet was found. Also post/e-mail a flyer to shelters in the area where you found the pet, to Craigslist and social media, etc.

***Please don’t post only to social media as many people do not participate in it and many neighborhood social media groups are private. Social media is an excellent secondary way to post lost and found pets, but should not be the only place to post them. When people lose a pet they are usually out walking or driving around frantically looking for it and do not immediately go to social media to see if anyone has found it.

Please do NOT keep an animal you find and immediately proclaim yourself the new owner. Make an effort to locate the family or take it to the shelter. Wouldn’t you want someone to do the same if they found your dog or cat?

Do not assume that just because an animal you have found that is skinny, dirty, matted or not wearing a collar doesn’t have a family. Collars fall off. Or maybe that dog just had a bath and escaped out the back yard when the gate was blown open.

Lost and scared pets can get dirty quickly hiding in bushes and under cars. Dirty and skinny doesn’t always equal homeless and unloved.

🇺🇸 We received a lovely email from Miss America (now Grace):

“As the new year starts, I want to thank everyone in the GRFF family for their love and support. Special thanks to Paola and Michelle for taking care of me as I gave birth to 8 pups and found a furever home. I love my new family (even my sister Shiloh who keeps pestering me to play with her). I get to be inside and warm all the time, and get attention and cuddles whenever I want. Happy New Year to everyone! -Grace”

How sweet is that? We love that her family has taught her to type. 💕 Thank you for staying in touch.

Gumball 🤍( on left) and Cornball 🤍 are the two surviving sisters of the five Parvo puppies. Bless all the babies.

They are getting some sunshine and fresh air today. They’re big bellies are from eating great. Yes they were dewormed. All of the puppies were in and out of three veterinary hospitals over the Christmas weekend.

If you were one of the folks who could afford to chip in and did, thank you we know rescuing this litter was horrible timing.

Thank you for sharing, praying and keeping these puppies in your thoughts.

Thanks to the foster folks who slept very little, and made sure that they got moved from to and from ER. ❤️

Hope you enjoy the video!

My name is Cornball and I’m tiny. I’m a girl. 💜

Florence Dusty had the surgery to remove her mammary tumors. She’s doing great and recovering at her foster home.

There is a graphic photo of her abdominal staples in the comments if you’d like to see.

Thank you donors for giving this senior gal a second chance. It was highly unlikely that anyone would have chosen her at the shelter when there were so many younger, healthy pups that were available. 💛

28/12/2023

This will make you smile!

This is Puppy-3 she is the smallest of the whole herd. This is her on the drive back to her foster mom‘s house. Video after she left the veterinary hospital an hour ago.😋

28/12/2023

UPDATE💔 This pup has quit trying. She is cold even with heated pad, she’s not getting better she’s getting worse even with hospitalization. We gave her a chance and everyone loved her, but we are humanely euthanizing her. She and her sisters who passed away will be buried together. Thank you foster family and donors. This has been a rough situation from the beginning.

Two of the Parvo puppies (Pup-1 & Pup-3) are being released from the hospital. This little puppy is having a hard time. We are transferring her to a more affordable veterinary hospital.

Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. She is Pup-2 🙏🏽

Not only is parvo devastating and painful. It’s also an expensive treatment.

We try if they are trying. ❤️

UPDATE 12-27-23 from Vet🐶
Pup-1 doing great eating and barking.
Pup-2 not eating but sitting up.
Pup-3 doing great eating but has yucky p**p still.

The four Parvo puppies seemed to be doing pretty well and then two of them went downhill. With the holidays, the only medical treatment has been at ER.

Three puppies are hospitalized. We lost another pup last night. We all cried, no little sweet puppy deserves to suffer from Parvo. 💔

The evening that we saw these puppies out in the COLD, in a filthy yard we couldn’t leave them behind. There’s no medical treatment at the local rural shelter, so taking them there would have been a death sentence for all of them.

With the substandard, living conditions and numerous dogs, we knew the chances of them getting sick after we took them, was high.

This has been so difficult for the foster family, the veterinary staff, our bank account and everyone who watches our posts. The only way to avoid these situations is stop going out in the field when we get tips. We can’t get involved in every situation, but some of the situations we get involved turn into this.

Thank you to the folks who were able to send in some donations, especially during Christmas.

We know you all are keeping these pups in your thoughts, thank you. 🙏🏽

She is safe and in a foster home. She will get vaccinated next week.

Magnificent Mallory is named in memory of a young girl who loved her dogs Max, Lola and Rocky. Special name for a special pup. Thank you to everyone involved who moved her from the streets to the sheets. 🐶🚓❤️🎄💞

We need your vote. We were contacted by law-enforcement 🚓 in regards to this puppy. She needs a rescue group. We have puppies coming out of our ears.

Each puppy we take in gets vaccinated, sterilized, dewormed…the works. Average cost $400 for the works, if nothing else is wrong.

Take in one more?

23/12/2023

Two pups were hospitalized, two pups have not shown any symptoms, and the sickest puppy passed away before our 1130 appointment. We were able to bring the two home from the hospital and did not have to transfer them to ER.

We have medicine for the next few days. Hopefully they stay on this path.

Parvo is a horrible virus which causes suffering, extreme discomfort and worse.
A simple vaccine (well three) would help prevent such suffering.

We wanted to share some incredible good news! 💙

Do you remember this dog we posted?

He was in the Brady, TX Animal Control shelter. Our Texas program Loving Texas Pet Assistance has been working closely with the animal control officer there to help lower euthanasia rates. She brought him to our attention, saying how friendly he was and good with other dogs.

Look at what networking did ! Sweet Bo is enjoying respite with his foster mom in Seattle before heading to his furever home in Eastern, WA! His foster mom is a friend of his new mom. He is going to be in home for Christmas! 🎄

Thank you for sharing our posts and following! Thank you to his mom and his foster mom and everyone involved from beginning to end!
