(volume up) As promised, a video of Florence Dusty squeaking while she sleeps. Goodnight. 💕 ghettorescue.org
💕 Florence Dusty’s foster has been sending great photos and videos. She reports that Florence enjoys soft chews; anything hard she can’t handle. Her foster siblings eat veggies as snacks and she is learning about those as long as they are small pieces. Florence makes squeaks as she sleep (stay tuned for video) or grunts and squeaks when she wants love. She is REALLY thriving on routine. When the door is open, she will go outside and understands that walks are for potties. Adoption applications at ghettorescue.org
Polly Pocket (black) and Popple are four month old female kittens. They are both spayed, current on vaccinations and microchipped. These sweet kitties are in Los Angeles and available for adoption within a six hour driving radius. Adoption applications and FAQs at ghettorescue.org #grffpopple #grffpollypocket
🐕 January is National Walk Your Pet Month.
Walking your pet is great exercise for them and you. It also allows your pet to stimulate their mind with outdoor sights and scents. Their sense of smell is so much better than ours; allowing them to sniff makes them so happy.
Let the walk be about your pet, not you. Allow them to sniff to their hearts content.
How often do you walk your pet?
One place donations go!
Large and bulky bedding and beds go to the laundromat. Weekly or every other week. We wash smaller towels at our homes. 🐶
$40 for a few loads that we wash and dry!
Gumball 🤍( on left) and Cornball 🤍 are the two surviving sisters of the five Parvo puppies. Bless all the babies.
They are getting some sunshine and fresh air today. They’re big bellies are from eating great. Yes they were dewormed. All of the puppies were in and out of three veterinary hospitals over the Christmas weekend.
If you were one of the folks who could afford to chip in and did, thank you we know rescuing this litter was horrible timing.
Thank you for sharing, praying and keeping these puppies in your thoughts.
Thanks to the foster folks who slept very little, and made sure that they got moved from to and from ER. ❤️
Hope you enjoy the video!
Florence Dusty had the surgery to remove her mammary tumors. She’s doing great and recovering at her foster home.
There is a graphic photo of her abdominal staples in the comments if you’d like to see.
Thank you donors for giving this senior gal a second chance. It was highly unlikely that anyone would have chosen her at the shelter when there were so many younger, healthy pups that were available. 💛

This will make you smile!
This is Puppy-3 she is the smallest of the whole herd. This is her on the drive back to her foster mom‘s house. Video after she left the veterinary hospital an hour ago.😋
UPDATE💔 This pup has quit trying. She is cold even with heated pad, she’s not getting better she’s getting worse even with hospitalization. We gave her a chance and everyone loved her, but we are humanely euthanizing her. She and her sisters who passed away will be buried together. Thank you foster family and donors. This has been a rough situation from the beginning.
Two of the Parvo puppies (Pup-1 & Pup-3) are being released from the hospital. This little puppy is having a hard time. We are transferring her to a more affordable veterinary hospital.
Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. She is Pup-2 🙏🏽
Not only is parvo devastating and painful. It’s also an expensive treatment.
We try if they are trying. ❤️
Merry Christmas from some of our alumni and followers.
Thank you to all who sent in photos. 🎄

The Parvo puppy survivors are doing pretty well. Taking their medicine and staying warm!🎄
Lemons for Sale 🍋 (now Cricket) is traveling today with her mom! ✈️
Two pups were hospitalized, two pups have not shown any symptoms, and the sickest puppy passed away before our 1130 appointment. We were able to bring the two home from the hospital and did not have to transfer them to ER.
We have medicine for the next few days. Hopefully they stay on this path.
Parvo is a horrible virus which causes suffering, extreme discomfort and worse.
A simple vaccine (well three) would help prevent such suffering.
Alumni Leeloo (now Freedom) and her kitty sibling LOVE playing together. ❤️
Thank you for sharing this wonderful video.

Muskrat Love sleeping.💗
We are optimistic, not pessimistic, but we have to be realistic. When puppies pass away one by one and don’t have a good start in life their survival rate is low. Fading Puppy Syndrome is suspected in this litter as Muskrat Love has been the only survivor. She is resting but she does not seem to be thriving like a “normal” three week old puppy would.
The litter was cared for by shelter staff and volunteers and despite feeding and treatment, they passed one by one.
Muskrat Love is being tube fed, she’s sleeping on a heating pad and last night she slept by her foster mom’s neck.
All the pitiful puppies who suffer in this planet; we see them, we hold them and we try.
Please continue to support spay/neuter programs. In the last four months we have spayed and neutered approximately 120 animals living with low income people, for free.
Thank you for following and sharing what we do.
Thank you donors and thank you to our handful of fosters.

*Volunteer fosters needed in Scottsdale, AZ, Los Angeles, Orange County and Inland Empire, CA, San Antonio, TX and surrounding areas. You feed them, we support and provide supplies. 💗
Look! Paisley 💟 is not pulling on her leash.
She’s been subjected to car rides, a hotel stay and she got spayed.
She’s been going new places to help her gain confidence!
🎓 Alumni Chloe (was mama Clover O’Malley) has learned a group trick at her forever home! A trio of spinning dachshunds! 💛

🌈 A couple of days ago a very special GRFF alumni crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We picked Delilah up from a Los Angeles shelter on July 2, 2014. (We remember the exact date because it was one of our current volunteer’s very first assignment with us.) Delilah was a beautiful yellow lab mix with a nasty sore on her left rear paw that was a result of dragging that leg. She was taken immediately to Dr. Park’s office. After several months of treatment it was determined that she would live a better life without the leg, so she joined the GRFF Tripod Club. Delilah adjusted quickly to life on three legs and was a happy girl. One of our past adopters volunteered to foster Delilah while we searched for a forever home. As fate would have it, Delilah foster failed and never left. She lived nine and a half years with her family, that, a various times, included four other GRFF alumni: Penelope (was Pandora), Freedom (was Leeloo), Moose (was Beauregard Rippy) and Bruiser (was Sundance Kid). Delilah loved water, as you can see in this video. Missing a leg did not stop this sweet girl from living a full life. Delilah will be dearly missed by her family and all that knew her. 💛🌈#grffdelilah #grfffosterfail #grffshelterintervention #grffrip #grffyellowdog #grff3leggeddog #tripawd #delilah #goodgirl #grff #ghettorescue #lapd
Alumni Lola belonged to a homeless woman. She foster failed with her mom and is now a foster sister to many animals, including a litter of kittens.
Her mom wrote, “Little Miss Lola is obsessed with the kittens. This is what she does when she wants me to get up and open the door to the kittens!” (black enclosure).
Lola and the kittens play nicely together. Popple is the tuxedo kitten under the bed and is available for adoption. She is four months old, current on vaccinations and microchipped. The other kitten(s) will available very soon.
See second video in comments.

Lola recently had a mass removed from her back, that’s why there is a shaved spot.

Sad news💔
This video was from last night, 1 AM in Texas. Our volunteer told her she was pretty and we all loved her. She had a faint purr, but she didn’t want to eat the baby food she loved. We rubbed all her itchy spots.
We got up this morning to get her to the Vet for tests but she had passed away in the last few hours. 💔 We are so sad.
We have to be thankful that Minty crossed our path. She didn’t die in the cold. We don’t know how she survived as long as she had, in the condition she was in.
It didn’t matter that her heart was trying or that she had a warm place to sleep, food and love from all around the world, her body was just done.
Minty, like so many other stray cats deserve better. She suffered. Thank you all for the prayers and support.
*In Minty’s honor we are going to offer a grant for a stray in need of medical care. So many cats are put down in Texas, some shelters don’t even have housing for cats (no city funding). Medical cats have no chance in most counties we visit.
*Minty we loved you more than you knew. Please keep our volunteers and Vet staff in your thoughts as they were all involved in her care. We are fortunate to have Vet Tech volunteers who do so much behind the scenes.

Update: Minty passed. 💔
Minty, please keep trying.
Update: Minty did not make it. 💔
One of our volunteers has this pathetic street urchin, in rural Texas.
It’s a female. She is infested with scabies/mange. The nearest ER vet is two hours away. We are utilizing what we have until we can get her to a regular Vet tomorrow.
We gave the kitty sub q fluids, Revolution, B12, penicillin, antibiotics and heat.
This urchin weighs 1.5 pounds. We are optimistic, but realistic. She ate baby food, dry food and canned food in the last 12 hours. She is drinking, but she is extremely weak. Probably the weakest rescue we have ever had. She does not stand, she crouches.
Tomorrow we will take her to a local Veterinary office.
We named her Minty. 💕

A HUGE thank you to everyone who donated for Giving Tuesday!!! You all collectively raised just over $3500 for GRFF dogs.
This money is a tremendous help, as we spend $1000 each month on dog food alone! 🐕
The one dollar and five dollar donations mean just as much as the one hundred dollar donations. It’s very humbling when someone donates a dollar or two because that person could have spent it on themselves, but they chose to donate it to help a needy animal. 💛
We love the GRFF family. You all make it possible for us to save “just one more.”
Please enjoy this video of Paisley 💜 with her kitty foster sibling. They are in an open x-pen and are free to come and go as they please. Looks like Paisley may have a new bff.

Paisley in the Park 💟
Look how she’s getting around! She only had one wipe out (in the deep gravel). She has to go potty as far away from the house as possible. Well it makes for good exercise. 🤣
Do you remember Steak Suzette? Here she is sitting like a princess with her bf Otis, the country bumpkin! 🤣
Otis loves her and grooms her❤️
*In 2020, Steak Suzette lived as a stray in Eagle Pass, and had several litters of puppies. We were able to trap the puppies and find them homes, but we couldn’t catch her. We went back for her. A couple of community members helped us too. It took us several hours and some laced hotdogs, but we got her! 🤣
