Diane, 62 years old, was the perfect tenant. She was quiet, didn't damage the property, and always paid her rent on time. Then one month, she came up short.

Her landlord, Chris, fanned out the money he'd taken from the envelope Diana gave him and waved it in her face. "A hundred and twenty dollars short, Mrs. Salinger."

Diane blushed. "I will pay you the $120 in two weeks..."

"Mrs. Salinger, I'm a businessman, not a charity! I want you out by the end of the week," Chris snapped.

"But Mr. Turkle..." Diane protested. "It's only for a couple of weeks, and it won't happen again!"

"It happened once, and that's enough for me, Mrs. Salinger. You're out," Chris said coldly. He turned his back and walked out.

He headed home to get ready to go to dinner at his younger sister Vanessa's house. Later, he knocked on the door, and Vanessa welcomed him with a happy smile.

Miranda and I had been together for ten years. We had two daughters: Sophie, five, and Emily, four. I thought I was earning enough. We didn't live extravagantly, but we could afford to go on family vacations twice a year. The girls had nannies while Miranda worked as a freelancer from home. I always helped out around the house, too. But somehow, it seemed like none of it mattered to her anymore.

One day, Miranda calmly told me she was leaving. Not just me — she left the girls too. "I'VE FOUND MYSELF," she said. "I WANT SOMETHING DIFFERENT." Weeks later, I saw her Instagram: engaged to a wealthy man, sailing on yachts, traveling through Europe. She'd abandoned us to chase that dream.

I replayed everything, searching for answers. The hardest part was Sophie and Emily asking, "Daddy, when is Mommy coming back?" I had no answer and it shattered me.

Two years passed in a blur. Life was hard, but I worked, carried on, and spent every moment I could with my daughters. They were my light through it all.

One day, as usual, I stopped by the supermarket after work to buy groceries. I was picking out cereal when I noticed a familiar face out of the corner of my eye. I couldn't believe my eyes. "MIRANDA, IS THAT YOU?" I called out.⬇️

July 5th has the highest intake of lost pets that end up in our already OVER CROWED shelters. By taking just a few precautions you can keep your pets safe: 1. Collars with current tags with home and cell phone numbers. (With a permanent marker you can write your phone number on the collar too.)2. Get your dog microchipped, for as little as $20. (Already chipped, make sure all information is up to date)3. Keep your pets indoors during the evenings when the fireworks will be going on.Remember the are counting on you to keep them safe.
