It is deeply saddening to learn the animal training community has lost a legend. A woman whose contributions have completely changed the way we think about training our animals worldwide. Karen was a true pioneer in animal behavior and marine mammal biology. Her legacy will live on through her many books, published papers, podcasts, Karen Pryor Academy, and the "click" of every clicker.

As we welcome the new year, many pets will be stressed by fireworks. Here's how to help them feel safe and secure:

🐾 Bring them inside before the fireworks start.
🐾 Provide a safe, cozy spot where they can hide if they feel scared.
🐾 Distract them with a favorite chew toy or treat.
🐾 Play calming music or white noise to help drown out the loud booms.
🐾 Ensure they’re wearing proper ID, just in case they get out.

LOST PET SCAM ALERT

Scammers are finding lost pet posts on social media and calling the numbers listed in the posts to tell the owner their pet is at Sebring Animal Hospital (they could claim to be from any vet, however). They then tell the pet owner their pet is in surgery and that money must be paid immediately if they want to save their pet's life.

If you get a call like this, hang up and look up the number to the veterinarian's office yourself (do not call the one the scammers give you) and check for yourself if your pet is actually at the office.

Please help us spread the word about this scam.

What a fantastic morning! We graduated all 8 of our Heel Together Academy dogs and they're all going to their furever homes today ♥️🐾

A huge thanks to Highlands County Sheriff's Office - Sheriff Paul Blackman Animal Services, Sebring, FL Urgents Friends of Highlands County Animal Services and all the inmates and staff at Avon Park Correctional Institution that make this program possible.
