We can’t choose when emergencies come up that need us most. We’ve been on an intake hold, overwhelmed with medical cases and short on volunteers taking much-needed time off, but Murray needed a miracle. When we first connected with his caretaker, they had a dozen kittens in their home and couldn’t afford the care they needed. We helped with spay and neuter, hoping to ease the burden and give those kittens a better future. But when one of those babies, sweet buff Murray, suddenly became desperately ill, his caretaker didn’t know what to do and certainly couldn’t afford lifesaving care. They reached out to us in tears, begging for help.
Last night, Murray was rushed to urgent care where he was diagnosed with FIP. His condition is critical. He’s fighting with labored breathing, jaundice, and even a painful abscess in his mouth, yet he still looks up with those gentle eyes that make you want to do everything in your power to save him. Harmony Hill Veterinary Hospital came in for us on their day off to start treatment immediately, giving this precious boy his best chance to survive.
We’ve already spent thousands and the road ahead for Murray will cost much more, but saving his life is priceless. Just look at that face. He deserves every chance at the beautiful life waiting for him.
