Dinner hours of September 7th MisFit ResQ encountered one of the most devastating losses any rescue could ever encounter. A house fire in one of the homes that housed seven of our dogs.

There was some kind of fire in the kitchen that likely occurred from lightning and the horrible storm that we had this afternoon according to the fire inspector. Sadly the kitchen is no longer recognizable the refrigerator is melted and it's a blessing that the dogs didn't actually incinerate. They did, however, pass from smoking inhalation and my heart is beyond repair from this horrific loss. I have encountered a lot of tragedy in my life and a lot of loss more loss than most people should have to encounter and I try to look at the bright side of things if I can it's the only thing that keeps me from going into a deep depression and that is that we had four dogs in there two nights before that I moved because they kept jumping the fence, and we had four kitties that we had moved to get spayed. I also was supposed to move two dogs back into that house yesterday after we had removed the other four and I didn't because I had a meet and greet with one of our dogs. In spite of our tremendous loss there was a saving grace.

This little self-funded rescue is my whole world these animals are my whole world everything about these guys are my blood sweat and tears. They are my lifeline they are what keeps me going everyday and with the loss like this it just feels almost impossible. I have felt numbness before but nothing like this.

I asked that you keep us in your prayers and if anybody can make a donation to us it would be extremely helpful we have seven cremations we have to do which I wasn't expecting and they are all private. Zelle is [email protected]... we have venmo and cash up and I can't even think of what their handles are right now anything would be greatly appreciated but in the meantime I would like very much for anybody and everybody to say a prayer not only for us and my employees but for the babies that we lost.

We had the worst horrific experience tonight that I think any rescue could ever have and that is a house fire in which all seven of these absolutely gorgeous babies perished ...my only hope is that they didn't suffer..💔 please keep us in your prayers... Rest In the Arms of the Angels my beautiful babies Emma, Mister, Zeke, Pineapple, Hazell, Reba and Schnoodle... my life is so good with you in it and now it just sucks without you. Unfortunately this was an act of Mother Nature and there was nothing that we could have done to prevent it it just sucks all the way through.

My serenity...laying in the hammock under the tall pines and palms while the dogs run around and play.. cool breezes and the sound of wind in the trees.... this west end life is so different than intracoastal life... best of both worlds ..GRATFUL

MisFit ResQ, Inc has taken this boy .. he has left MDAS for good ..never to return..he is about 5yrs old ...actually 2-3 now seeing him in person...and apparently a handful, per his driver, we will discuss surgery tomorrow with the drs at Animal Eye Specialty in WPB.. he may be able to swap with a cherry eye surgery we have set up for Wednesday but due to coming out of MDAS they may want QT time. Either way he WILL get what he needs to give him the very best .. when all is said and done.. adoption possibilites will be opened. We have strict requirements...so please be patient. Broken toe..bad fracture in the ball of my foot.. dropped an 85 # crate on it today.. boot for the next 6-8 weeks ..this week has SUCKED ..BUT...I SURVIVED

Just when you think you've lost enough pets for the week..a dog last saturday, a dog on Tuesday, cat gors missing for 3 daya and almost lose another dog on Thursday, you come home from Dr's after breaking your foot in two places to find she has passed on her own. This is a hard one because she was the most amazing kitty, so affectionate, so personal, had a huge voice and just an amazing girl. Together again with your buddy MJ.. she was a month from 19yrs old and with me her whole life.

Tonight I lost one of the most incredible dogs I've ever had it was a boy that was literally minutes from being euthanized in Dekalb County Animal Shelter, in Georgia, in 2012. There was a post of him hugging one of the shelter workers and he was literally minutes from being euthanized and I contacted the shelter and asked them what it is I needed to do to give this boy a chance. They told me that I needed to have a local rescue pull him and I needed to have a place for him to go and transport and all these hurdles that I wasn't sure we would be able to overcome but I asked them to give me 24 hours and they granted me that wish and by 7:00 a.m. I had everything lined up...with a huge thank you to Lynn Herron... in a few short weeks he made the trip south with 8 other MisFit ResQ, Inc. "Dedicated to Finding the Perfect Fit " pups...one of them was his bestie of 12 years... Peaches who I lost 4.14.24. They are now reunited in eternal play. Great green grasses..no anxieties..and no indestructible crates to destroy. He makes IMPACT crates into yard art.

I have been talking to my friend and my sister recently about how I thought I was going to have to say goodbye to him he had been having some difficulty with his back legs and this morning I said okay buddy I'm going to move you this week to the other property so that you can have a nice big yard and then I said to myself well maybe he wants to be home where he's been for the last 12 years with his two little friends Aphrodite and Pancake.. they would've gone with... and tonight he made the decision for me and for himself that he wanted to be home where he has been and he passed away in his sleep and I can't ask for a better situation as much as I hate saying goodbye to him and as much as my heart hurts and my stomach is in knots ...the thought of not seeing him just hurts...but this is what he chose. He looked so incredibly peaceful and any dog mom knows you can't ask for a better way to go.

When I carried him inside, earlier today, for his kibble and helped him get into his bed.. I gave him a big fat kiss on his head and said I'd do this forever if he wanted me to. He didn't 😭💔
