Brag for Bandit:

Congratulations to Bandit on completing his basic obedience training. Olivia and Tom adopted Bandit who was in need of additional training. He passed with flying colors and is going to be taking advanced training in November. He has transitioned wonderfully into his forever home. A successful rescue for sure! Thanks Olivia and Tom for sharing the exciting news.

Looking for a forever home.

Please meet Rosie, a 5 year old retired breeding momma who spent her life in a barn stall and dog pen. She is a petite girl at 65 pounds. She is confident and outgoing. Gradually adjusting to life in a house, Rosie is still happiest when outside. She has been crate trained (her inside safe place) and is making progress walking on a leash. Though not food motivated, Rosie is a quick learner. Quick movements and loud noises can be scary for her. She is an independent dog, but is beginning to seek out her foster mom and accepts pets and likes to lay down by her feet. Rosie doesn’t have any reaction to other dogs or cats, but loves small children and is not a jumper! Rosie will continue her incredible progress with a loving, caring and patient forever family. Her sister is now thriving in her forever home. Rosie is partway through getting up to date on all shots and is scheduled to be spayed in November.

Please submit an application if you are interested in adopting Rosie. https://www.bmdcfl.org/rescue

Red Flags! You May be Dealing with a Puppy Mill If…

- The “breeder” seems fixated on making sale ASAP – as in today, tomorrow, or next week.
- You found the “breeder” on Craigslist, Kijiji, or on online forums dedicated to puppy sales.
- The “breeder” can’t answer questions about how they focus on breed standard in their dogs. Saying they breed “for companionship” doesn’t count!
- The “breeder” won’t let you meet the parents of your puppy.
You’re at a pet store – nearly all pet stores source puppies from puppy mills.
- The “breeder” won’t send you photos of where the puppies are raised or give details on socialization.
- The puppies only have a USDA health certificate rather than full vet records of vaccinations, etc.
- You are asked for a deposit before the puppies are born.
