Meet Sai! Sai is an adult spayed female available for adoption at Ketchikan Gateway Borough Animal Shelter.
Sai is a big dog and has a lot of excitement and energy in her kennel - but on a walk?? I braced myself because she looks strong but she was the most polite and gentle walker of all time!
She does not pull on the leash! She does not seem to know or respond to her name - at all. She does sit and shake. She is not wary of strangers and seems to be a confident pup. She is one of the few dogs I’ve walked who waded right into the stream - so she seems to like water. The breed scanner has her listed as a part Jindo.

Dobby

Meet Dobby. Dobby is an adult female kitty available for adoption at the Ketchikan Gateway Borough Animal Shelter. Dobby was a little tricky to find - she was well hidden - but totally willing to come out and sat hello. After I picked her up she nuzzled my neck and enjoyed a tour around the room.
Don’t let Dobby’s hiding spot fool you! She comes out of her shell quickly. Dobby can’t go home until after the shelter has her spayed - but you can still visit and apply in the meantime.
Dobby has a calm, curious and affectionate personality and will make a great pet. (Just be sure to give her a nice nook for naps!)

Keith walking with us around the cemetery. He has a bit of a strange gait - almost like his back feet are walking wide to avoid running into his front. He has the potential to pull and is strong - but mostly he wants attention and walked really well.
He is a little nervous but warmed up quickly.

Loki is an adult neutered male dog who has been at the shelter for over five months now. He has generally been nervous - especially around men but today he really seemed happy to see me which really touched my heart.
Loki needs a home! He needs a quiet and calm household with a confident and very patient owner. I’m not sure if the shelter allows him out on walks since is big, strong and spooks fairly easily - but you can definitely visit with him in the run and try to win his trust.

Doggos at the shelter Part 1
Randy is a smaller white terrier - male and not yet neutered. He quieted the entire room of barking during an intense two minute sniff/introduction - and turned them all back on in force with his yaps when I stepped away.
Sitka is at least six feet tall on his hind legs. He is a big beautiful malamute who sits on command. I think Sitka will be a great dog for someone who has the ability to spend time training him and burning his excess energy. He is a LOT of energy and dog.
Pumpkin the small black female pit bull who is super sweet. She needs a home without young children
Loki is a nervous large breed dog who needs a patient person to earn his trust. He seems especially nervous around men but you his desire to connect and settle.
We only need 88 more Facebook followers before we hit 5,000! Not bad for some cat videos. Thank you all for supporting KHS and the shelter by helping to spread the word. The power of a social media share is unmeasurable. You never know who an animal will speak to and when there might be an opportunity for a happy ending. And with that I present some of my favorite photos from the last six months! (Most of these animals have been adopted - but not all. Check the caption to see.)
