Sells February 8th R&J Horse Sale Verndale, MN.

4 year old 15.2 hand, dark bay gelding. AQHA and FQHA registered. Many greats in his pedigree such as King, Continental King, Poco Bueno, Doc Olena and Dash for Cash to name a few. “The Lad” has been well started and is ready for the next step. He should excel in ranch work and games or the occasional ranch rodeo (he is lightly started on cattle). He was born and raised with the same lady his whole life. He has not been traded around. This wasn’t an easy decision for his owner, but they want him to go to a place that he is someone’s main mount. Travis Holck (TH Performance Horses) Agent.

Just a few reminders in these cold snaps:

🥶🧊🥶

-Make sure horses have adequate forage at all times! We primarily use nets so in these frigid temps I'll flake out some loose hay a couple times a day on top of keeping feeders full.

-Check water sources multiple times a day. Tank heaters aren't always reliable, can trip breakers, or just stop working all together. Also if you notice horses aren't drinking check for shorts with your heater to make sure they aren't getting shocked when they go to drink. If you don't have the ability to have heaters make sure you're watering multiple times a day/breaking ice. If you're struggling getting horses to drink try a little warm water from the house!

-We have Zesterra tubs in all our pens with liquid Zesterra on hand. If a horse isn't consuming enough water or you're worried about colic giving them liquid Zesterra can give them the boost they need to go drink more water/keep their guts moving.

Tamale's half brother in action! Bet Hesa Start is currently being shown and making a name for himself.

When I look at Tamale's brother they are literally the same horse just a different color.

What is super neat is that they are half brothers on the maternal side. Tamale is sired by Spots Hot...Bet Hesa Start is sired by Bet Hesa Cat.

When people ask if his dam side is strong all I can say is yes!!! And she passes on one heck of a hair gene.

This nice stud stands in the southern part of the country... if you're interested in breeding to him I can put you in contact with his owners!

We are so proud to stand a stud from a program like this in MN. Tamale's books close February 1st! 🔥🔥🔥

As our little family of 3 gets ready to ride into the New Year a few words stick out in my mind.

Thankful. Grateful. Blessed. Tired 🤣

2024 was our first full year training at our own home. Tamale bred over 30 mares and we had over 45 training horses go through our program with a few still here. To me it's absolutely mindblowing that Travis and I handled all the chores, riding, appointments, etc. All while having our daughter full time.

We snuck off to some competitions where our geldings pulled buckles and checks...Travis hit the roping pen again some which he really enjoyed!

Next year looks to be just as busy so while we know there aren't a lot of vacations or rest in our future we are going to take it one day and c**t start at a time! 🤣

Thank you to all of our friends, family, and clients that follow and support our journey. We are looking forward to 2025 ✨️🥂✨️

Getting so close to Stock Show!

If you're interested in Parker or Strawberry reach out prior to sale day to meet them beforehand.

Both these young horses are exceptional and special in their own way. Not only backed by pedigree but they have been started under saddle by Travis which guarantees a nice foundation for their future.

2025 Clients (Training & Breeding)

Just wanted to touch base on a few things going into 2025!

Training ▪️
-Clients booked in April and May breeding comes first during those months we need some flexibility so please be patient with us 🙏
-If you end up not wanting to bring a horse please let us know. We don't require a deposit but appreciate a heads up so we can move on to our waiting list.
-Prices have increased for 30/60 day tuneups. 90 days plus are the same rates. If we have spoken recently rates are the same as we have quoted you.
-Regular updates given (photos/videos) typically once per week if not more. C**t starting tends to be not as exciting the first couple weeks but we will answer messages and questions as soon as possible!
-Zesterra, Alfalfa, and individual pens provided. Grain provided by owner along with any specific supplements. Cameras on-site as well!
-We do have an awesome farrier that stops out every 4 to 6 weeks but try to have your horse UTD on farrier at drop off.
-Please have horses current on worming at drop off.
-Please keep in mind your pickup dates. We operate on a 30 day calendar. We are flexible within a day or two anything more than that will be additional training costs.
-1st month training due at drop off. 2nd month training due at start of next 30 days so on and so forth!
-Trav is FULL until Fall 2025 with 1 or 2 spots left that's it!

Limited spots for consignment horses...including sale prep, hauling, and showing on sale day. Private sale spots available depending on the horse.

Breeding Mares ▪️
-Start keeping track of your mares cycles come February if you can.
-Please do not call us when she is actively in heat. We are going to make you wait until the next cycle because we don't know if she's missed ovulation.
-Mares are covered every other day until they no longer stand.
-You have 48 hours after last cover to pick up your mare so we can keep things moving!
-No rear shoes on mares please! They also need to be halter broke.
-Tamales books will be closed in February No Exceptions!

We also do not have a open door policy unless it's an emergency. This is our home and privacy is appreciated however we don't mind scheduling visits for you while your horse is here!

We are so excited for 2025! Not only to see all these horses progress in training, but the mare power coming in for breeding, and for last years mares to drop those babies this spring and summer. Thank you for chosing TH Performance Horses for your equine needs!

A little winter time fun 🌟🎄🌟

Was a fun night! Had to cut audio because I was yelling at my husband to ride my horse as if he didnt train him... 🤦‍♀️ Took some of our Minnesota Ranch Rodeo friends out to South Dakota...not sure they'll venture back 😂 Proud of Travis's team for their first time at an event like this. Travis knew the events but no one else did. Finished middle of the pack with a no time! Also Howard (first horse out) can run fast when a cowhide is chasing him 🤣

Handed the reins back over to Howard's trainer for the night ;)

Everyone's horses stand this nice to be clipped right 🤣 Thank you Howard for being the best boy!

Dylan heads home Friday! He's been a colt start that has required a lot of patience and consistency, but he has come a long way!

We wish all of these young horses rode as good as Strawberry 🍓 does with just 60 days under saddle! Whoever snags this girl up is going to love her. She's smart, willing, and gorgeous to boot. Plus she's going to be a nice stopper! Sells Lot#168 at Black Hills Stock Show (February 1st). Own Daughter of Smooth As A Cat. Started correct and ready to go on with!
