ADOPT ME!!!
Meow, I’m Judias! I’m a 1-year old, neutered male Burmese mix with big, beautiful eyes! I came from a hording situation, so I’m understandably a bit shy. I was making progress here at the shelter, beginning to enjoy human touch…but I’ve recently regressed in that regard. I do really like treats, bird watching, napping in high places and cuddling with other kitties. My perfect home would be a quiet household with another friendly cat and a dedicated, patient person who will let me settle in my own time. I promise once I feel safe I will show you my adorable, cuddly side. Please come meet me!!!

The Summit County Animal Shelter is closed to the public, today, Wednesday June 19th 2024 in observance of the Juneteenth holiday. Volunteers are welcome. The shelter will reopen on Thursday June 20th at 9:00am.

CUDDLE BUGS NASA and CK!!!
We had to share cute pictures of CK (black) and Nasa, available for adoption through the Summit County Animal Shelter. These shy beauties found comfort in each other and are opening up to people more and more every day. Here they spent time with volunteers, enjoying some nip and cuddles with each other. These sweet cats will make wonderful companions and will surely continue to blossom once they feel safe surrounded by your love & care. Come meet them!!!

Woof, I’m Eva! I’m a 5-year old, spayed female Doberman weighing 73lbs. I’m here at the Summit County Animal Shelter because my last family couldn’t care for me anymore. I am a very sweet and smart girl who loves attention and affection from people. I’m a total velcro dog who loves to be snuggled. I have been learning to walk well on a leash and am willing to learn many more commands, I love to learn! I am staying in a foster home and my foster mom says that I'm doing great with her pack, dog friendly, cat friendly and well behaved in the house. Poppy's new family says, "We feel so lucky to have met our sweet Poppy at the Summit County Animal Shelter. She has blossomed into the friendliest pup who loves to play and hike and enjoy the vibes at the local brewery. ONE YEAR ADOPT-A-VERSARY!!!

Adopted one year ago, Pip is enjoying every minute of life in his home...a life filled with family, friends, fun and so much love!!! Here is more from this sweetie's family about the first year with their boy:

"Pip is wonderful. I positively adore him. I mean how could you not with a face and personality like his? He follows me EVERYWHERE. Nobody goes to the bathroom alone in this house. His very strict house rules…even guests. He also plays fetch with my socks!

He doesn’t like to sit on my lap, but he does like to be held, the vet has literally told me she wishes all cats were as calm as him. He must be within 5 feet of me at all times. He also loves his tummy rubbed. You’d think he’d pull a tummy trap, but no he just lays there hoping I will never stop.

Pip comes when he’s called and also always uses his scratching post. I’ve trained him very successfully with treats. He also forgets to put his tongue in when he’s asleep sometimes, which, let’s be honest, melts my heart.

He and our other cat, Beans, will cuddle and groom one another. It is very adorable considering she hated him at first. She walks up to him, wakes him him, and he complies by licking the crap out of her, then they fall asleep in a cuddle puddle.

He is very curious about everything, but funny enough he doesn’t climb on the windowsills and stalk the birds with Beans. He does put his front paws on my hips and legs until I comply and pet his head. It is sort of like a dog would. He is beyond smart though, because when I tell him no nails (like don’t put your nails through my pants) he actually understands and doesn’t use them next time. I mean he needs reminding now and again, but he’s a cat so what can ya do but laugh?

Anyway, thank you for giving me the best cat a gal could have asked for!"

Summit County Pet Food Pantry is seeking pet food donations of unopened and not expired pet food.
Drop off locations are at FIRC and Father Dyer Church.

Open or expired pet food are accepted at Summit County Animal Shelter.

SC Pet Food Pantry will be attending events with the Animal Shelter and LAPS.

They will be accepting donations June 7th at the First Friday event in Silverthorne.

Gorgeous Gizmo (fka Casper) was recently adopted from our shelter!! It was a joy to know this sweet boy at the shelter and we're so happy that he's bringing all that joy into his new home!!!
