Adorable Summit (fka Simon) was adopted from our shelter just a short while ago!! Congratulations sweet boy and to your new family, too!!!

Summit's new family says, "We have no other pets, no problems or concerns. He’s the snuggliest, sweetest baby ever. The adoption process was so easy and every employee encountered was well-informed and very nice!"

The Summit County Animal Shelter is closed to the public Thursday January 1st, 2026 in observance of New Year's Day. Volunteers are welcome. The shelter will re-open on Friday January 2nd at 9am. If you require animal control assistance during this holiday closure, please call dispatch at 970.668.8600.

This adorable baby is Sadie, recently adopted from our shelter! Congratulations sweet girl and to your new family, too!!!

Sadie's new family says, "Everything is going so well and everyone is adjusting to Sadie nicely. There have been no problems or destructive behaviors. Overall, the adoption process at the Summit County Animal Shelter was excellent. Thanks again for all your help!"

ADOPT ME!!!
Woof, I’m Sprout. I’m a 1-year old, spayed female Husky mix weighing 45lbs. I’m a typical husky who absolutely loves to run around playing with other dogs, people and toys! I was adopted into a home as a younger pup, but was returned and may have some separation anxiety. I also have a grade 5-6 heart murmur that will need to be monitored. I would really love to be part of a family...maybe yours? Please come meet me!!!

ADOPT ME!!!
Meow, I’m Maggie! I’m a 1.5-year old, spayed female kitty. I was picked up as a stray and no one came looking for me. I’m looking for a loving home that will keep me safe inside. I co-exist peacefully with the other kitties in the shelter's cat social room and I will greet you at the door for some gentle affection. My favorite toys are balls, toy mice and feather wands...a game of chase is so fun! A nice volunteer takes me outside on a harness and I really enjoy that, too!! Can I please go home with you?

A HAPPY TAIL PupDate!!!

Handsome Bruce was recently adopted! We're so happy he found his family, including a little kitty also adopted from the Summit County Animal Shelter!!

Bruce's family says, "Bruce and the cat are slowly adjusting. Sometimes they are chill, sometimes not. Bruce comes to work with me so he’s not home alone all day, so the transition with my cat is easier and because he LOVES the socialization and training we do together. I’ve never met a dog 100% disinterested in toys and chewing and almost never barks! The cat is Galen (fka Spice) adopted in September. She is wonderful, loves to cuddle her humans!"
