Are you ready to add a whole lot of love (and a little bit of mystery!) to your life?

Meet Lola, At around 2 years old and weighing in at a perfect 13 pounds, Lola is full of sweetness, playfulness, and charm. And while we don’t know her exact breed, she does have that cocker spaniel look we all adore!

Lola is happiest around other dogs, so she'd thrive in a home where she has some furry friends to play with. She’s got a gentle spirit and a playful side that will keep you smiling all day long.

If you’re looking for a playful, loving companion who just wants to be part of the fun, Lola might be your girl.

Dash—the lovable mystery pup who came to us as a bit of a wild card. We took him in thinking he was a cocker spaniel, but after all the severely matted fur was shaved off, we discovered he’s actually a happy, scruffy guy we believe is part poodle, part schnauzer, and maybe a dash of something extra special.

Underneath all that fur, Dash was just 29 pounds and desperately in need of love and care. Now he’s filled out to a friendly 40 pounds, but his journey is far from over. Despite his playful spirit and charming personality, Dash is still searching for a forever home where he can feel safe and loved.

He adores playing with other dogs and even makes friends with cats, but what he really longs for is a family to call his own. Dash has a big heart, ready to share all the love he has to give, but he needs someone to take a chance on him.

Could you be the one to give Dash the loving home he’s been waiting for?

Meet Dash! Ok, ok… I know he’s not a Cocker Spaniel, but in my defense, the picture I got made him look like one laying on the floor! When he first came to us, my husband and I spent two hours cutting nearly three pounds of matted fur off of him. He was only 29 pounds back then, and now he’s up to a healthy 40 pounds! We think he might be a Poodle-Schnauzer mix.

Dash is such a friendly, energetic boy! He loves playing with Maisie and even gets along with my little 6-pound Chihuahua. He’s a total sweetheart, and I can promise, you can’t go wrong with this guy!

There’s a little whipped cream on this cup of Coco! The last few years may have made Coco prematurely gray but the pep in her step is real. After being dumped at a Louisiana shelter in June because her elderly owner died, she hit the jackpot, bouncing into CSRET foster homes.

It’s obvious from Coco’s condition the owner had been unable to care for her for quite a while. CSRET has addressed those issues. She has glaucoma and dry eye and relies on a couple eye drops a day to keep her vision. The glaucoma blinded her in one eye but she has vision in the other but this doesn’t let is slow her down. She sits patiently while you put the drops in her eyes. It’s going to be extremely important to keep regular ophthalmology appointments and give her eye drops as prescribed because she is effectively deaf since her TECA surgery. She likely had numerous, probably untreated, ear infections which hardened the ear canal causing a lot of pain – the vet said her ears were some of the worst she has seen. TECA surgery removes the ear canal and basically deafens the dog but eliminates the pain. Fortunately Coco has adapted to having no hearing quite well because she seems to sense vibrations.

Otherwise, she seems to be in good health and is a very sweet dog who loves human companionship. She seems to have some separation anxiety so another dog might help. This girl deserves a life in the lap of luxury for the rest of her days. BTW, her foster mom has spoiled her with shopping trips to the pet store for toys. Coco seems good with other dogs and people, big or small. Despite all of Coco’s hardships she is a special little girl and will bring a lot of joy to whoever adopts her. If you like cocoa, you’ll love Coco.

Apply now – she will be ready for her new home in a short period of time.

Tour Stop Update: Roommate Still Needed!!

Hey there, fans! It's your favorite rocker, Ringo, checking in from the road. I'm a rockin' 10-year-old who’s still on the lookout for my next big gig—finding a place to crash before I hit the stage with Cocker Spaniel Rescue of East Texas!

I'm desperately seeking a foster home or, even better, a forever home where I can lay down some tracks with my new family. Got a spot for a legendary rocker like me to call home? I'm great with kids and love the little fans, but I'm not quite sure how I'll jam with other dogs yet.

Fostering me isn’t just about giving me a place to stay; it's about being part of something bigger. With more foster homes, we can save more dogs and keep the tour rolling strong!

To adopt or foster Ringo head on over to our website to fill out an application.

Our Story

In 1988 Sharon Elliott, a Cocker Spaniel enthusiast, was called on to assist in a raid of a backyard breeder. Sharon, horrified by what she saw, became determined to assist Cocker Spaniels who were abandoned and helpless.

The operation started small with two volunteers placing a dozen dogs a year. Within ten years this noble effort attracted a core of volunteers who re-homed a hundred plus dogs a year. In the late 1990's Cocker Spaniel Rescue established an internet presence with a website, www.cockerkids.org. While the website helped recruit volunteers and donations, the number of Cocker Spaniels in need increased dramatically. Now we have a presence on FaceBook and we are reaching even more Cocker Spaniel lovers.

Today CSR serves the greater Houston area with foster homes stretching from Conroe south to Lake Jackson, west to Katy and as far east to Deer Park. Our primary service area is around 5,600 square miles with a population of 5.7 million people. We serve an area bigger than three individual states (Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Delaware). Thirty states that have populations smaller than the greater Houston area. In 2009 we were contacted about 633 Cocker Spaniels in need of help and we adopted out an all-time high of 300. In 2009, we were awarded the Pedigree Breed Rescue of the Year at the Westminster Dog Show.

Dedicated volunteers are the heart of Cocker Spaniel Rescue of East Texas. Currently we have about 50 volunteers and 30 foster homes. We are an all volunteer organization (no paid employees) and do not operate a facility. We refer to the Cocker Inn® as a virtual home, representing our network of foster homes and boarding kennels. About 80% of the dogs are in foster homes. The remaining 20% are boarded at several kennels across the greater Houston area. We would love to have foster homes for all the dogs but being boarded in a kennel is better than being on death row. We extend our thanks to those of you who "volunteer" money. Your donations enable us to provide veterinary care and board dogs when foster homes can't be found.
