ABOUT Tess and Kratu:
A solitary child who only really found solace in nature, Tess Eagle Swan ran away from home aged sixteen and, by her late twenties, had already survived violence and drug addiction. In the following decade, life spiraled further out of control, as substance abuse filled the hole meaningful relationships should have occupied. Something had to change.
Tess had always loved animals, so when she saw a post on Facebook about the plight of two dogs in Romania, she was moved to take action, helping find homes for both. From his humble beginnings in a Roma camp in Transylvania, Kratu has gone on to become a canine international treasure. Now a trained assistance and therapy dog, he has brought joy to millions with his lovable antics - not least with his legendary appearances at Crufts. But the role he has played in Tess's story is more compelling still. Since 2006, Genevieve Frederick had researched the homeless with pets and had spoken to many homeless people about their pets. The nonprofit she founded, “Feeding Pets of the Homeless”, is the only national animal organization focused completely on feeding and providing emergency veterinary care to pets of the homeless.
Frederick, representing the nonprofit, has been on TV and interviewed by numerous podcasts and radio shows. She has been quoted in a number of books, magazines (AARP and Family Circle with the largest circulation), blogs and other news outlets in the US and abroad. She has been a speaker at the Oregon Coalition on Housing & Homelessness conference. The subject and Feeding Pets of the Homeless were a featured exhibit at the National Museum of Animals & Society. Frederick is a specialist on the topic of pets and their homeless owners and the human/animal bond.

The delivery of supplies is critical, due to the war in Ukraine MANY shelters, rescues and street feeders are finding it impossible to obtain a sufficient amount of food and medical supplies to sustain their animals for a long period of time.
As well as the extraction of animals for dangerous locations it also resupplys as many as we possibly can to ensure their animals don’t go without food. In the past 12 days we have delivered between around 100 - 120 tons of food and medical supplies to such locations.
There is SO much work to do here and we’re working tirelessly to reduce the number of animals that suffer across the Ukraine. Our main focus is and always will be the preservation of life in every aspect which is why we focus on the red zones as those close to them.
Our ground teams, supply chains and infrastructures are building with each day that passes but we need your continued support so we can sustain this for the duration of the war.
