For years I got to love everyone else's pet through dog sitting, training, and classes.
This year I'm celebrating love your pet day with my Makoa. It took me 2 years to find her. She has been such a joy in my life, even when she's working through little training glitches. She has been there by my side as I recover from my crash in 24. And I promise her, I will be safe every time I ride my bike.
If you recently lost a pet, I just want to say, I see you. This day can feel tender rather than cheerful. If you're not ready to celebrate that's okay. One gentle option, when it feels right, is to visit a shelter dog. Rather than replace anyone, it is just a time to offer a few minutes of kindness to a pup who would deeply feel it. Sometimes that small act of love helps our heart breathe again.
