We had a Hard Weekend here at the farm...We had to say Goodbye to an Amazing Mare, Lady Wind Rose. This will be a long post with a tribute from my Husband, myself and my sister. So please bear with me. Though she never entered a Regional or National Show RIng, that does not negate her Greatness. She truly could do it all. Western, English, Dressage, Hunter Jumper, a little Polo practice, a Therapeutic Equine, a lesson horse,a mother of none, a grandmother to 3. I would give away every Regional or National ribbon any of our horses may ever earn to have her back with us, feeling young and spry.....Unfortunately Life doesnt work under those terms. So I will continue with My Husband's Tribute
It is a sad day. We laid to rest a wonderful mare. This post may be long but I must describer her
Lady Wind Rose (Almarah Hurricane x DA April Lady) 03/26/86 - 07/16/22
You my dear friend taught me and so many others. As a young trainer when I met you and started you, you taught me patience. I did not know what you were teaching me at the time, but I figured it out later in life. from me, you went on to teach a young girl in
4-H and became High Point horse of the year in a Quarter horse world. You then took that young girl into a young lady and went to college and was her mount in dressage and hunter jumper. From there, you became a therapy riding horse helping all kinds of adults and children overcome fears, anxieties helped with PTSD and physical therapy. You then went on to take care of a special needs child and helped them come out of their shell. At this point in life, you were tired. You came back into my life, along with one of the young girls you taught in your youth. You became a babysitter for my weanling foals. You raised three weanlings but were never pregnant. You were the ambassador to the Arabian breed. You were what everyone person should have as their first horse. Lady, until we meet again on the other side of the rainbow bridge, I and so many others will remember you as a wonderful horse. You will always have green pastures, cool water and comfortable days and nights.

My own story about Lady
This evening I wrapped my arms around you and cried into your neck for the last time. I was only 13 when you were born. You’ve been a part of our family for nearly as long as we’ve been a family. I admit that as a teenager horses were not my thing. It wasn’t until I was in my thirties and you Ladybug were one of the first horses used by the Steuben County Therapeutic Riding Center. As a volunteer, together we worked with one very special girl. And we watched her come out of her shell. You spent a few years with my Uncle and his family and our special girl…then it was time for you to come back home. But coming back home meant going to a new place. You willingly did a few lessons for a couple of girls. Was part of one little girls birthday party, with ribbons in your hair.
You helped us to raise 3 great foals…though you never had one of your own, you were an amazing Grandma to those foals. Making sure they were at the fence when it was time to eat. Sharing your own supper, and making sure they knew it wasn’t nice to get pushy.
You truly were a one in a billion horse with a big heart and a bigger personality. And I am going to miss hearing you bark at me because I’m late with your supper even if I’m early.
I’m going to miss you forever.
You’ve definitely earned your wings, now fly
And a few words from My Sister Joy Reinsch Tite
Yesterday my family lost my childhood horse. She spent her entire life in our family. When she was young she was my 4-h horse and we did some open shows. Lady was feisty, fun, loved to run fast, and deathly afraid of water, unless nobody was watching. After I went to college she became a therapeutic riding horse, lived with my aunt and uncle, then went on to live with my sister and her husband on their horse farm.
If you knew our Lady, we believe you have already been blessed, and we were honored to share her with everyone.
