Lemondrop Farm Sanctuary & Community Outreach Lemondrop Productions Inc. is a 501c3 charitable non-profit. Serving FL, GA and CA. Saving animals, helping people. Lemondrop is 100% NO KILL. Please donate!

We provide care to those who need it most whether human or animal. Please visit our website for more information, FAQ's and details about some of our resident animals. All donations made are tax deductible under FEIN 45-277-6445 as a Federal Tax Exempt NonProfit. All donations go directly toward keeping our doors open and programs running, none of our staff or Volunteers take a paycheck or salary

and none of the donations go toward marketing. Lemondrop has been in operation since 2011. At our Farm Sanctuary, we host over 100 resident farm animals, dogs, cats and exotic birds who have found permanent sanctuary with us and our Volunteers. They remain with us for the rest of their natural lives in a safe, comfortable environment. At our Community Outreach we provide food, clothing and household items directly to more than 1000 people in need each week at our Tallahassee area distribution alone. We estimate that we reach around 150-300 people at our California location each week. We operate in Florida, Georgia and California (Farm Sanctuary and headquarters are located solely in Florida). Four years ago, after losing her mate Stoney, Tico invited the young and energetic Zephyr (green cheek conure) to share her nesting box. πŸ’› It was the perfect distraction to get her out of the grief of the loss of her mate.

Tico invited Zephyr to join her in the nesting box. They’ve basically become inseparable. He was the perfect solution to her grief of losing Stoney.

We do our small part, trying to help those who need it. 🧑

❄️Driving around town you might notice some of our neighbors across Leon County don’t live within walking distance of a grocery store.

❄️This is because a large portion of our city is considered food insecure.

❄️This doesn’t always mean distance either. Sometimes it’s simply the cost of food in relation to how much money a person makes.

❄️According to NCBI ( https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11251681/), scurvy (most commonly caused by dietary insufficiencies) cases in the United States is on the rise and tripled between 2016 and 2020.

❄️Gratitude goes to local organizations like Little Sunshine Pantries and Lemondrop Farm Sanctuary & Community Outreach who work to address food insecurities right here in Tallahassee. Check out their pages not just this season but throughout the year and get involved 🫢

✨We are better and stronger together ✨

It really is astonishing β€” when local business owners tell us β€œyou don’t reach enough people for us to consider you for a donation”.

Perhaps it’s a clash of mindset, but we believe everyone matters. Lemondrop reaches more than 3,000 people each week, across all of our programs.

That’s approximately 156,000 people’s lives each year that Lemondrop touches.

Local businesses who, in essence, say that those 156,000 people *don’t matter* morally outages us.

EVERYONE matters.

Stoney was such a good little old man. We cherished him. Editing to add: he passed in 2020, but we miss him always. πŸ’› this popped up in our memories today.

This year, we’re facing hospice type care for several of our oldest animals (canine residents and one of our aviary residents).

It’s always a very difficult time for our full time volunteers, as everything else gets set aside and the animal in need gets round the clock care. That’s the main reason why we’ve been posting less the last couple weeks, dealing with intensified animal care, and trying to get things to people in need before the holidays.

Please keep us in your prayers. πŸ’›

Saving Animals - Helping People

Since 2000 we have been rescuing animals from various circumstances, including strays and slaughter house abuse victims. In 2011 we incorporated as a non-profit so that we could solicit support from the local communities and companies to help us continue our work, of caring for, housing and feeding these animals. Since 2011 we’ve been able to take in roughly 250 animals in need, our focus is Farm Animals although we do take some cats and dogs on a case by case basis.

We rehabilitate each rescue upon arrival, bringing them up to health and weight, then merge them into the Lemondrop Farm Animal Family. Once we take in an animal we give them sanctuary for the rest of their natural lives. This means that the animals stay at the sanctuary, they do not get farmed out for slaughter, rehoming, marketing, trafficking or fighting etc. Each animal is given a large pasture or area to freely roam, graze, or play; none of the animals are kept in cages. Each pasture has a special shelter or barn to meet each type of animals needs for shelter from rain or inclement weather. We currently give permanent sanctuary to around 80 rescued farm animals.

In 2017 we were hit with Hurricane Irma as a Category 1-2, and then in 2018 we were directly hit by Hurricane Michael at a Category 5. Michael and a tornado that spun off of it, destroyed most of the Sanctuary, barns, shelters and fencing. After the hurricane the Board of Directors decided that our animals would have to be moved into Foster Homes until we could rebuild. As of 11/2018 we are still trying to raise funds to rebuild the Sanctuary.

Lemondrop Community Outreach partners with local churches and individuals who have a passion for helping feed, clothe and minister to the homeless community, especially veterans in need, in Tallahassee Florida and the surrounding areas.
