Madison County specific end of year tax deductible contribution...

Friend of Madison County Animals and the Madison County Animal Shelter have been using ASPCA spay/neuter center in Asheville for low cost spay/neuter surgeries. ASPCA has drastically cut back their surgical capacity and have never gotten back to pre-COVID numbers. This has left our and neighboring counties with a huge backlog of unassisted spays/neuters for the last four years. You can help this process by giving a year-end tax-deductible contribution through FOMCA's 501(c) for building a new county shelter which will house our own surgical facility. No more transporting our pets to Buncombe County and no more long waits for ASPCA surgical space. There are hopes it will be operational by 2026. Every little bit helps. You can send a check or make an online contribution to FOMCA with request the money go to the new building fund. Thank so much for your help. -Dr. Sheldon and your French Broad Vet medical team

NEW UPDATES: PLEASE DO NOT TEXT US AT THIS TIME. We are not able to receive or send texts as of sending this email due to an ongoing issue with our phone provider (Vonage). We will let you know when texting has been restored. In the meantime, if you need to reach us, please call our main number (828-412-1181) or email [email protected]. Dr. Sheldon will continue to operate out of our mobile unit at the Madison County Animal Shelter this upcoming Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from NOON until 4PM - no appointment needed. We will see anyone's pet(s) who needs medical care, but this does not include routine vaccines (exception: if you have a puppy or kitten who needs a booster, that needs to be done, boosters are time sensitive). Vouchers are available to those who need financial assistance. Dr. Sheldon will be in our white pull behind vet trailer (do not go into the main shelter building). There is pet food available at the Shelter for those in need. We will be making housecalls this week on Tuesday and Thursday - call or email if you need one. We will be reaching out on Monday to those of you who have/had an existing appointment to get that rescheduled. Thank you and stay safe!

Hello again Friends - this is an update to the message we sent out to clients on Monday (Sept 30th). Dr. Sheldon will continue to operate out of our mobile unit at the Madison County Animal Shelter at least through this Friday (October 4th) from NOON until 4PM - no appointment needed. We will see pet(s) who need medical care, but this does not include routine vaccines. Dr. Sheldon will be in our white pull behind vet trailer (do not go into the main shelter building). There is pet food available at the Shelter for those in need. We hope to resume making regular house calls starting next Monday (Oct 7th), however, this is dependent on the supply of gasoline. If you need to schedule an appointment please EMAIL us if you are able. Or, you can text or call if you cannot email. Please note, at this time we can receive texts but we cannot text out, so we will need to be able to call you back. Thank you and stay safe!

Hello Friends - we hope all of you and your pets are doing well given our current circumstances. As many of you know, we are based in Madison County and we are working with our county shelter to figure out how we can assist with pet needs in Madison County in the coming days and weeks. However, our primary responsibility will be to our existing clients (in both Madison and North Buncombe). We will be rescheduling this coming weeks regular appointments so that we can focus on sick or injured pets. In order to do this most efficiently and to help as many pets as we can, we are asking that any of our clients who have an "urgent" sick or injured pet bring them to the Madison County Animal Shelter this Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday between the hours of 12p and 4pm. You do not need an appointment. To define urgent - anything that is a problem, not a nuisance, and can not wait a week for regular veterinary care. Nuisance issues and annual vaccines will be turned away. If your pet is ALREADY scheduled for a booster vaccination (puppy/kitten vaccine series), then please make sure to come by, as some booster vaccines are time dependent. Dr. Sheldon will be in our white pull behind vet trailer (do not go into the main shelter building). At this time we do not have pet food for distribution. Contact your local animal shelter or humane society non-profit group if you need pet food assistance. Madison County Animal Control Services is actively pursuing pet food resources. If you are homebound (meaning we CAN get to you but you cannot get to the county shelter) please EMAIL us and we will try to set up a day/time to make a housecall. Please use email to communicate with us instead of phone/text at this time if you are able. We will send out another update this coming Wednesday (Sept 2nd), or before if we have any critical updates. Thank you and stay safe!
