What a fantastic day yesterday at Martin Luther King Park, serving our community! We provided free vaccinations and low-cost spay/neuter services to help keep pets healthy and with their families.

Our mission is simple but powerful: to keep pets with the people who love them, ensure they’re healthy, and support underserved communities in any way we can. By canvassing, listening to the needs of our neighbors, and offering essentials like collars and food, we’re committed to making a lasting difference in animal welfare here in Kern County.

We’re in this for the long haul. One family, one pet at a time, we’ll keep going.

🌟 A Huge THANK YOU to Everyone Who Made The 2024 Mega Adoption Event a Success! 🌟

We are so grateful to everyone who came together yesterday for the Mega Adoption 2024 event! Thanks to all the incredible rescue community that came out —Kern County Animal Services, Kern SAFE, SNIP, City of Bakersfield, Critters Without Litters, and the amazing rescues and vendors who showed up in full force—we made a huge impact for Kern County’s homeless pets.

With so many adoptions and so many people spreading the word about these wonderful animals, this event was a true team effort. Critters Without Litters provided essential vaccinations, and SNIP performed over 120 spay/neuters to support pet wellness. Every participant was there with one mission: helping Kern’s homeless pets find loving homes!

And we have even more to celebrate! 🎉 Thanks to the raffle prize program and the generosity of our community, we exceeded our fundraising goal and raised an incredible $3,000 for the Bakersfield Food Pantry! We are thrilled to present this donation to Robin Ackling, who has been a pillar in our community and a valued partner with Kern SAFE. Her mission of keeping animals fed and supporting families in need aligns perfectly with ours.

Thank you again to everyone who participated, supported, and donated. Thank you to all of our Kern SAFE volunteers. Together, we’re making a real difference for our community and our beloved animals. ❤️

As a coalition, we are dedicated to continuously advancing animal welfare in Kern County through a variety of initiatives. Whether through clinics, community outreach, or partnerships with local programs that support both individuals and their pets, we remain committed to making a meaningful impact. We are pleased to continue our efforts with the Pet Food Pantry this Saturday, September 14th, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. During the event, we will offer spay/neuter sign-ups as well as provide collars and leashes to those collecting food for their dogs and cats.
