Envy’s back is finally scab free!!! 👏🙌🙏

It’s been a long road for this sweet mama and we couldn’t be more proud of her. She takes her medication daily like a big girl. Her days don’t actually begin until she has had her morning p*e and her medicine. Sounds like a grandma who starts her day off with a cup of coffee and her medicine 😂 She even enjoys the nice rub down in her body butter that was donated by a very nice lady!

Envy has come so far from the sick and hairless dog that we first met almost 3 years ago. She was brought in by the Dog Warden after a cruelty cop plaint. We will do everything in our power TJ make sure Envy never ends up in a situation like the one she came from. We will be making a trip to the vet Monday for a follow up and to have her bumps addressed.

Now to find her some cute outfits!! If anyone would like to donate some outfits for Miss Envy to help keep her skin covered, she could sure could use them! We like using onesies for dogs so it covers her back completely as well as her legs. But anything will work!

Envy wears a size anything between a Large and XXL. She weighs roughly 45-50lbs. We have a photo as reference for what she is needing.

We want to share the next adventure in the life of Liza!

After being found as a kitten with broken bones, she found a home with a women who loved her for almost 8 years before her owner passed away. Now, our adorable old gal had been seen on our fb page by this very loving family who knew they just had to have her. Last week they came in for a visit with Liza and after some time with her, they started to win her over. Well tonight was the night, Liza has officially left the building!

This gorgeous girl has found a wonderful home with a loving family who already adore her and we know this is the home she will spend her remaining years in.

Congratulations Liza! You deserve it!

When a meet and greet turns into a foster to adopt, we couldn’t be happier for that cat/dog.

Zuri had a meet and greet with this nice young lady this evening and she knew she just had to have him. She knew Zuri was the cat she had been looking for as a play mate for her furbaby at home.

Zuri had a hard time leaving his foster dad but we knew it wouldn’t take long for him to fall in love with his new mom. We hope this little handsome furball loves his new home and family. He will be neutered and receive the rest of his vaccines once he is old enough.

Congratulations Zuri!

IN NEED OF A HOME!

Miss Piggy is in need of a new home due to no fault of her own. Miss Piggy’s owners are expecting a new baby and the pregnancy has become very difficult and with so many health issues, they are wanting to re-home Miss Piggy so she has the chance to live a happy life. They don’t want her to spend her days locked up, not able to get out and play, and live like a normal dog.

Here is some info on Miss Piggy:

Breed- Pit mix
Age- 1yr 6mo
Fully vetted and UTD on vaccines.
Great with children.
Great with other dogs and cats.
Loves car rides.
Walks great on a leash.

From owner;

Miss piggy is a very active and energetic pup. She loves to play, and from our experience does well with other small dogs. She enjoys her kong ball and lamb chop the most. Miss Piggy also enjoys laying with people and back scratches. She does well with small children, and doesn’t pay any attention to farms animals that we have noticed. She loves to be outside, most days she will play on our porch or lay and nap. Miss piggy also really likes chicken or turkey flavored treats. Miss Piggy also likes to have a space of her own to lay when she is tired.

Dislikes:
Miss Piggy dislikes going outside in the dark. She is also not a fan of being told to go to bed (what we call our dogs kennels), but if you leave it open she does like to nap there through the day. She also dislikes being scratched around her tail, and her paws being touched. She does okay with bath time but it is not her favorite. She also dislikes fast movements, loud noises, and hoodies/hats. She does p*e when she is startled/ or excited. She does not like being towered over, this makes her scared. If walking her on leash to use bathroom she doesn’t like to be watched. She also may want you to lead her especially in a new place.

Routine:
Miss piggy typically gets 2 baths a week, we found it helps with shedding. We also put a little coconut oil one her and massage after baths. She also gets brushed often with a deshedding brush.
We get Miss piggy up and let her outside around 8:30-9:00 every morning. When she comes back in she will eat her food and then she usually wants to go back outside to play. She will play for 30 minutes to an hour outside with our other dog then come in to nap. She is not fully house trained yet, but she will go to puppy pad. We let her out every hour to hour and half thought the day to try and help with house training. At bedtime we have Miss piggy go in her kennel around 10:00-10:30 and give her Kong ball with peanut butter to wear her out. She will wake you up at night by barking if she has to go to the bathroom, we will get up and let her out and she will go to the bathroom and then go back to bed.

Food:
We have put Miss Piggy on a grain free diet, and add salmon oil once a day to her food. She eats once when she gets up and once at dinner time. She also doesn’t eat around other animals, but we have seen no signs of food aggression. Miss Piggy does get treats throughout the day for good behavior, such as using bathroom outside, being easy with our child, coming back to us when we call her name, chewing her toys. Miss Piggy hasn’t gotten much table food, maybe a waffle here and there from our daughter and occasionally we have made her unseasoned steak.

Other:
Miss Piggy is still a puppy, and a chewer. If she gets bored she will find something else to occupy her. Shoes, baby toys, remotes, anything she probably shouldn’t have. We have been keeping her Kong ball refilled with frozen peanut butter to try and help with this.

Miss Piggy needs help finding a home, can you help?

If interested, please DM our office manager, Meghann Fast or call the shelter at (937)-217-9269. There is a Rehoming fee of $25 and will need a vet reference.

Update on Chester- VERY GRAPHIC 🚹

Chester was seen by Dr. Schram Monday morning to be evaluated and have wounds assessed. After being looked over, Dr. Schram was able to determine that Chester’s front arm will heal on its own. We were able to locate 2 more wounds; a hole on the side of his ankle with the mangled foot and a large hole in his bottom lip, as if a tooth went completely through the lip.

Unfortunately, Chester’s back foot has been mangled, leaving his middle toe and nail completely exposed. He will have to have surgery to remove the toe and nail completely.

Chester is currently on a strong antibiotic to help fight the infection in his wounds so he is healthy enough for surgery. We will also be neutering Chester so there isn’t any little Chester’s running around.

Chester’s surgery is February 19th with Affordable Vet Clinic. This poor boy may be a stray community cat, but he deserves the opportunity to live a healthy and pain free life.

Here is the link to the fundraiser for Chester if you would like to donate or share. https://givebutter.com/r5vSyL

We want to thank Dr. Schram and staff for taking excellent care of all of shelter residents. You guys rock!
