Tomorrow, September 28th, is World Rabies Day! This initiative by the Global Alliance for Rabies Control (GARC) to raise awareness and accelerate efforts towards rabies elimination. This year’s theme, “Breaking Rabies Boundaries,” emphasizes the urgent need to break the boundaries in the way of eliminating rabies. Rabies continues to cause suffering and claim lives, both human and animal, worldwide. The ultimate goal is Zero by 30: zero human dog-mediated rabies deaths by 2030. Every pet deserves a loving home, even less-adoptable pets that might need special love and care. The ASPCA says it takes shelter animals about 12.5 weeks to get adopted. Pets who are in shelters for 48 weeks or longer are classified as “less-adoptable”. Adopt a Less-Adoptable Pet Week is celebrated each year in the third week of September. It is sad to think that certain animals are considered “less adoptable” because they are not “perfect.” These animals are just as loving, sweet, and kind as all other pets.

Have you found a lost dog wearing a Paw Finders tag? Scan the QR Code to get the pet owner's contact information! If no phone number pops up, then the tag has not been registered. The next step would be to contact the veterinarian listed on the front of the tag.
