This was a recent Baxter and Bella post that I wholeheartedly agree with, put into practice myself and see the fruit of. My model below is Mae. Mae is an 11 week old standard poodle puppy that has been using her crate overnight and for structured downtime daily for 3 weeks. Today I was talking to my husband in the kitchen. I realized I hadn’t seen Mae in a few minutes and looked around. She had chosen to go into her crate and take a nap. 😍 Even doing this everyday I sometimes am amazed at how much my dogs love their crates. Here is some more information on each of the points to further convince you:
1) A crate provides a quiet, safe place where your puppy can relax. It also helps teach appropriate chewing habits (there is usually a chew in there for if she is bored) so your pup can learn to love their toys instead of your shoes or furniture.
2) Regular rest periods teach your puppy how to settle and self-soothe. Puppies who learn this early are far less likely to struggle with separation anxiety later on-meaning less stress, fewer messes, and a more relaxed home for everyone!
3) Crates help prevent accidents and build good habits. After crate time, take your puppy straight to their potty spot and reward them every time they go in the right place. Make it consistent and positive with treats and praise. The crate should never be used as a punishment. Your goal is for your puppy to love it and even choose it for naps.

Songs a little corny but this was my entire afternoon yesterday. I was cooking up a meal and my poodles “supervised”. Love the presence they bring!!

Busy, busy, busy! We’ve been sending Cleo’s puppies home this week. Remi (brown) goes home tomorrow and we have Maggie (light purple) and Milo (dark purple) until Mabel’s litter goes home. 7 puppies and May feels very easy!! 😃😃😃😃

Last day with Cleo’s entire litter. Tomorrow they start going home. This morning we got to visit a school and they had a blast and worked off all of their energy. We do touchups on grooming later today and had baths this morning. Mark has called this litter, the teenage boy litter because they are messy messy. 😂 I’m super excited to see each of them go to their family and get individually loved on.

Today is the silent auction. We don’t have any bids yet but the starting bid for one of our 2027 puppies is half the normal cost to purchase. And you get to support our school. If you have been wanting to get onto our waitlist for a 2027 puppy, here is a great opportunity. https://events.readysetauction.com/providenceacademy/springfest26

Yay for litter boxes! Mabel’s pups caught on fast and are ready for toys. They’re doing awesome with learning to eat food and they’re weaning from mom.

We’ve been going, going, going with Cleo’s litter this week.
