Happy Caturday! We hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. We’re taking a break from our adoption stands today, but we’ll be back in a big way next weekend: THREE adoptions stands in one wknd.

National Black Cat Day is devoted to promoting the safe adoption of black cats and aimed at dispelling superstitions around black cats, especially at this time of year - as black kitties become the unfortunate victims of Halloween-related jokes.

We are typing through our tears with a grateful heart on this one. 😢 A very beloved RACC volunteer has received a health diagnosis that is initiating a more progressive plan for her estate. What was going to be a bequest, has changed to an immediate allocation so that she can see the results of her support. This wonderful person understands the reality of our work at RACC, and has gifted our foundation with a donation that will have a huge and lasting impact on life saving in the City. Her wish is to fund spay/neuter outreach for dogs, and we are working hard to bring her dream to life. To that end, we are creating a program (The Kara & Eden Project; her dogs’ names), in her honor to help cover the cost of dog spay/neuter surgery for any City of Richmond resident in need.

Along with our own RACC team, we are partnering with many other veterinary clinics to accomplish our short term goal of fixing 100 dogs before the end of the year. Our long term goal will establish additional options for spay/neuter subsidy throughout the City. If you, or someone you know (City residency is required) needs help with spay/neuter for their dog, please email [email protected]—we have appointments starting next Monday. Our team can provide transport for those without a transportation option. We want to help as many people as possible in an effort to reduce the number of unwanted dogs in Richmond. Please help spread the word about this incredible program and our intention to leave a beautiful legacy for one of our own. ❤️

Trolly was in our adoption program for 2 years! He watched as his siblings and his mom found their forever homes, and he waited patiently - in his loving foster home - for his time. He was finally adopted this past May, and it was worth the wait! His new family adores him, and he is now the rightful king of their castle. Congrats Trolly!

Chess has been fixed and has received all age-appropriate vaccinations. ** Interested adopters can meet with cats by appointment only.

#successstorysunday Our shy girl Star found her forever home a couple weeks ago. While she’s still a bit timid, Star is slowly getting more confident as her new mom is very patiently getting her settled in. Shy kitties tend to make the most loving, affectionate pets once they get comfortable!
