Greyhound Pets of America - Nashville works collaboratively with adopters, humane and other greyhound groups, and the racing industry to find homes for retired racers. We bring retired racing greyhounds in from all over the United States - Kansas, Florida, Arkansas, Alabama, Connecticut, Colorado - anywhere where there is a hound in need of an adoption group. At our Dog Drops we bathe the dogs and
do an initial inspection of their veterinary needs; before giving them to their foster families. All of our hounds are placed in foster homes to be prepared for their adoptions; this way, we are able to learn what type of home environment would be best for the hound. While in foster care our hounds learn proper house manners and are taken to community outreach events to show what Greyt pets they make. Any and all necessary veterinary care is done prior to adoption; every hound receives: Spay/Neuter, all required shots, testing for 4 common tick-borne diseases, and a dental. Additionally, they are provided with a martingale collar and lead, muzzle, 6 months of Heartworm Preventative, one weeks supply of dogfood, and a GPA/Nashville identification tag at adoption.
