Holidays are always a bit more stressful, or seem to be, so please be sure to take a moment to make sure you have your basic vet supplies, basic medicines and doctoring items - that is a responsibility we all have as horse owners and managers, but it really goes a long way when you don’t have to disrupt your vet during their personal holiday time with their families because you don’t have bandages or butte on hand.

This summer has been wildly busy and so much fun! One of my dear friends asked us to help get his two riding horses ready for their annual group ride, and their group also borrows one of our personal horses - seeing this happy photo and happy horses and hearing the great report back makes the busy summer that much better.

Isn’t this grey Fox Trotter mare stunning? She IS available for purchase and her fancy photos and ads will be posted soon, but the behind the scenes are days like this - just spending time, putting the hours in, not worrying about perfection, or loose saddles or dusty rumps, but making progress. All in the best interest of the horse. Not the ‘maybe potential buyer’ - the horse.

There are many ways to sell a horse, and we all have different ways of going about it. I happen to prefer to do it honestly. I prefer to take the right amount of time and I am thankful to work with a wonderful breeder who allows that time. Sure, I could grind on this horse 6 days a week and go from ‘in pasture all winter’ to top dollar sale in 30 days, but I’d be ashamed to do it.

It is frustrating when I see horses marketed publicly, and the ad is dishonest. The only one who suffers from a dishonest ad is the horse. It takes time to get to know a horse - it takes time to gain the knowledge of that horses unique individuality so that one can be confident when presenting a horse for sale, especially in todays market where quality horses have quality price tags.

Do your homework. When you are horse shopping, ask all the detailed questions, and be comfortable with the answers before proceeding forward. If not only for your best interest, but also in the best interest of the horse.

When I’m hosting horse shows I don’t get to take a barn full like normal, but I do still get to see my clients, who are also my dear friends, show their horses - I’m so proud of them! Meghan had her first show ever with Honey Bee and did everything on her own, with great placings! Heather gracefully gave up her show classes for Kayla to ride all weekend on Flash and these two have made leaps and bounds!! Ember advanced to being bold and trying adult classes - great work to all of you, I couldn’t be more proud of you!!

Youth riders make my heart happy. Ms Ember riding Amo rocked it this weekend in their first show that was large, mostly adult classes! From beginning to end they worked hard together, showed grace and ended up rapping up the weekend with a reserve championship after placing 4th or higher in all their 10+ horse classes!
