Leah & Lilly
On a mission to turn this retired jumper into a western horse. 🦄
Daily operations around here ramp up in frigid temps. Checking waters, giving electrolytes, giving extra forage, giving all day turn out and setting stalls for overnight, and handling fresh babies. Bundle up butter cups, old man winter isn’t going anywhere fast!
It shouldn’t be an unpopular opinion but; turn your horses out, blanket them if they need it, keep forage in front of them 24/7, provide fresh water, let them stretch their legs. It’s really that simple!
Locking them in their stalls and adding in extra things your horses are not use to is a recipe for colic or cranky ponies.

Working on strength and conditioning this winter. Ground poles and moving out! This girl is moving good for her age. 🤩
Growth Mindset
One of the most rewarding things as an instructor is seeing how quickly your students can progress when they come with a growth mindset. Students should have the ability to embrace new information and view a challenge as an opportunity to grow. Being focused and intentional during your rides will help you excel quickly. Always reminder to hold yourself accountable during lessons. Your instructor can only take you so far if you aren’t willing to be coached. Remember not to put limitations on yourself. Identify your own weaknesses and be relentless in the pursuance of improving them.
Proud of the progress this team is making! 💙

Relearning Respect & Boundaries
Relearning boundaries and respect ✊🏼
This mare has been in broodmare land for the past several years. ( Minimal handling )
She is good minded but just needed a reminder when it comes to respect and boundaries when being handled.
When she first started back to work she was watchy, pushy, and defiant. Not wanting to yield shoulders and invading my personal bubble.
We had a come to Jesus moment yesterday and did some learning. The light bulb went off today 💡
In this short clip you’ll see me asking for several directional changes. I’m not asking her to work hard but I’m asking her to pay attention. This gets them thinking and waiting on you to tell them to do something. In turn you get a lighter horse that’s not as heavy on the front end or baring down their shoulders. I want them to change eyes and step accross, not walk towards me to change. You’ll also notice that she is more mindful of my space. Not coming into it unless she is invited in and moving away from pressure as I apply it to her.
More passion, more energy, more footwork.. all fitting for what we are working on with this mare 🤪
So proud of Kendelle for what she has accomplished with her new mare in a short time!
We have been working on general brokeness and getting her softened up.
Can’t wait to see what this team can accomplish through the winter!
