We continue Pet Memorial Month with a story about the Publix Puppies.
PJ, Pippy, George & Autumn (now Joey) were dumped by the Publix on County Line during summer 2022. They were brought to us and seemed like healthy, playful puppies. All 4 puppies soon became extremely sick. They were tested for everything you could think of, all coming back negative. Unfortunately after several vet visits, PJ and Pippy both were not able to fight off their sickness. George and Joey were able to make full recoveries. George was adopted by a wonderful couple who regularly comes by and donates food and treats to our shelter pups. Joey was adopted by our volunteers Chris and Kat and has a RCAD alumni fur sister.
It’s stories like these where we are so amazed by our director Laura’s commitment to our shelter pets. Thank you Laura for fighting for these babies recoveries. We miss you, PJ and Pippy❤️👼
Please remember to send Kat your donation receipt this month and a photo of a pet you would like to honor! [email protected]
Chloe had a great time at the library tonight. It was her first public appearance so it took her a minute to come out of hiding.
Stormy just got back from the 2024 Paris Olympics! She won gold in the Relay Race and Silver in Freestyle Swimming (point deductions due to drinking the water) 😂
She is hoping to earn another gold medal in Finding A Home ❤️🥇

Volunteering at RCAD is a lot of work but is much more fun when you do it with friends. Our volunteers definitely know how to turn a one person job into a two person job 😂
Saturday shenanigans at the shelter! 💦 Sometimes we get toys for our shelter pets and it doesn’t quite go as planned 🤣
Puppies: Brimsley, Benedict, and Francesca. Their siblings Colin and Gregory are still available for adoption as well.
And of course, Stormy! Our water loving girl.
Please fill out applications on our website https://www.rainingcatsanddogsshelter.com/adoption
Looking for a cat with whiskers? Chunky? Green eyes? Look no more.
Peanut is a 3 year old male long haired tuxedo. He has lived with other cats and dogs (big and small).
Peanut is super loving, lets you pick him up and is a purrfect kitty
Dearest Gentle Readers,
There are new pups in town and they are not deformed bunnies.
My sources reveal that Penelope Flufferington has been seen sharing toys with the one and only Colin Barkerton. Colin’s siblings have also made an appearance. Anthony, Benedict and Gregory have been sharing meals and seen at the same water bowl. Brimsley, although not a member of high society, is still this season’s golden boy. Another Barkerton sister, Francesca, has been spotted at the seamstress with soon to be sister Penelope and the two left a lot of fluff behind.
This author does not know all, but she believes these members of the town to share a bloodline and will be medium to large members of society. They are currently 12 weeks old and will be introduced into society in July.
If you wish to call upon any of these lords or ladies, please see our application at https://www.rainingcatsanddogsshelter.com/adoption

Linder and Amelia had fun at the library this evening. When they got tired the kids had a chance to get a few pets in.
It’s Foster Friday and today we are featuring Petunia! This cuddle bug is about 3 years old and had to have many of her teeth removed this week. The cost of her procedure was $1,079.45. She is recovering in foster care with our awesome volunteer Nancy! Petunia has an old leg injury which prevents her from bending one of her back legs but she gets around just fine. Petunia enjoys being held, getting unlimited pets, nuzzling, getting more pets and eating wet food. This is one of the sweetest kitties in town. If you are in need of a special cat like her, please submit an application on our website at https://www.rainingcatsanddogsshelter.com/adoption.
We posted about Petunia a few months back as she and some other shelter pets were in need of dentals. Back in April we were able to raise $800 toward their care. We have spent over $10,000 since April 1st on medical care for our pets. This is all specialized treatment for sick pets and does not include routine spay/neuter costs. We often take in older pets when their owners are turned away from other shelters. These pets need us but their care is much more expensive than a young healthy pet and we couldn’t do it without the help of our village.
If you would like to donate toward our shelter pets’ medical expenses, we would appreciate it so much. Our shelter is 100% donation based so we rely on our supporters to continue our mission to care for the homeless pets in our community. Donations can be made on our website at https://www.rainingcatsanddogsshelter.com/donate.
Stormy is making a splash 💦 This beautiful girl is still searching for her forever home after being with us for over 2 years! She came to our shelter pregnant and had 10 babies several days later. All of her pups found their forever homes and she has been patiently waiting for hers! Stormy loves water, toys, treats and people! She will need to be your one and only pet but has enough love to give to make up for it. Stormy would do well with older kids since she is very strong. She is spayed, vaccinated, HW negative and 100% good girl! If you think Stormy would be the perfect addition to your home submit an application on our website https://www.rainingcatsanddogsshelter.com/adoption

We have created a reputation of taking in fearful chihuahua mixes. Some of those chihuahuas are so scared of strangers that while they are able to bond with our volunteers, adopters never get the chance see how great they are. We are also a sanctuary so if any animal is not adopted for any reason, they will live their life with us.
We are so pleased to report that Chanel’s story doesn’t end with us here at the sanctuary. The most amazing people saw her story on Petfinder.com and connected with it instantly. They met her a few weeks ago and saw how special she is. She went to her forever home yesterday and is already cuddling and giving kisses to her new mommy and daddy.
This beautiful girl touched our hearts and we will miss her fiercely! Thank you to her new family for giving her a chance to show how much love she has to give. Live your best life Chanel!
