Santa’s been coming early for our RCAD pups!! Thank you to everyone that has sponsored a shelter dog this season. They are so excited to get their gifts and it really helps them to get to meet new people and socialize. 🎄🐾
If you are sponsoring a dog this season please remember to email Kat to schedule your drop off time! [email protected]
We have some great news to share… yesterday our sweet girl Nahla was adopted!!!
Nahla was brought here from Bahrain several years ago and was adopted from our shelter. Earlier this year, we received a call that she was in a county shelter. Her owner had passed. We went and got her back right away.
Nahla has been living her best life here, going on dates with volunteers, pack walks, going to the dog run, and lots of cuddle time! She is a special girl and she caught the eye of her new owner all the way from California! She flew in yesterday and they are now driving back. We know Nahla will have a wonderful rest of her life. We love you Nahla!
Post hurricane Saturday at the shelter. We are so grateful to our volunteers showing up, local supporters stopping by with supplies, online supporters sending us supplies, and people checking in on us. THANK YOU!! We still have no power, but we are making the most of it. We are so appreciative of everyone helping us during this time❤️
Sundays are all about our seniors! Today we want to let everyone know that Stewie was adopted and is doing wonderful in his new home!
Stewie was thrown over our fence back in April. He was in terrible shape and very scared. He went immediately into foster care and we gave him a complete makeover! He needed a hernia repair, dental, neuter and a lot of work on his skin. Once all of that was taken care of, we started the process of finding the perfect home for him.
Stewie reports that his new mommy is awesome. He gets all of the attention he wants plus his mommy adds lots of home cooked extras to his regular meals.
❤️ We miss our Stewie man but could not be happier for him! ❤️
The lives of our beloved pets are always too short. Whether we had them their whole life or just a short time at the very end - they imprint on our hearts and we will remember them always.
Thank you to everyone who donated during the month of September in honor of a lost pet. This video is a tribute to those lost and the love we shared with them.
We continue Pet Memorial Month with a story about the Publix Puppies.
PJ, Pippy, George & Autumn (now Joey) were dumped by the Publix on County Line during summer 2022. They were brought to us and seemed like healthy, playful puppies. All 4 puppies soon became extremely sick. They were tested for everything you could think of, all coming back negative. Unfortunately after several vet visits, PJ and Pippy both were not able to fight off their sickness. George and Joey were able to make full recoveries. George was adopted by a wonderful couple who regularly comes by and donates food and treats to our shelter pups. Joey was adopted by our volunteers Chris and Kat and has a RCAD alumni fur sister.
It’s stories like these where we are so amazed by our director Laura’s commitment to our shelter pets. Thank you Laura for fighting for these babies recoveries. We miss you, PJ and Pippy❤️👼
Please remember to send Kat your donation receipt this month and a photo of a pet you would like to honor! [email protected]
Chloe had a great time at the library tonight. It was her first public appearance so it took her a minute to come out of hiding.
Stormy just got back from the 2024 Paris Olympics! She won gold in the Relay Race and Silver in Freestyle Swimming (point deductions due to drinking the water) 😂
She is hoping to earn another gold medal in Finding A Home ❤️🥇

Volunteering at RCAD is a lot of work but is much more fun when you do it with friends. Our volunteers definitely know how to turn a one person job into a two person job 😂
Saturday shenanigans at the shelter! 💦 Sometimes we get toys for our shelter pets and it doesn’t quite go as planned 🤣
Puppies: Brimsley, Benedict, and Francesca. Their siblings Colin and Gregory are still available for adoption as well.
And of course, Stormy! Our water loving girl.
