Chickens have become quite valuable these days. When they quit laying, I am not one to continue to feed them. This is a hen Rhode Island Red. I hope to acquire a nice rooster specimen someday to add to the collection.

Last summer, I was gifted a wild hog specimen from a recent archery hunt in Texas. I recently took a little time to mount it. It turned out spectacular. Thank you Dean with D&D Deer Processing.

In my late forties, I find it more difficult to be motivated to do much in the out of doors this time of year. It wasn't always this way, often I ran a trap line with my good friend Tom on the weekend's post-deer rifle season through the end of March. Furs had a little more value then. However, it had little to do with money, as the gear and gas were far more valuable than the fur. I seldom dryland trap anymore, but when I get the opportunity to beaver trap I do. If you are a trapper or small game hunter you can harvest furbearers other than a fox (ends 1/31) until the end of February, and Beaver until the end of March. If you always wanted a critter mount, fur is in its prime, you will not find better specimens than those harvested now.

P.S. I am always interested if you have opportunities in the area to beaver trap.

I was recently gifted a night light from some of my customers. Thank you, Braxton & Eric. We discussed offering the night lights to hunters who might find it nice to cherish the image of their trophy. Aside from hunting these night lights would make a great gift for those hard-to-buy-for family members. A simple image of kids, grandkids, a family portrait, a dog, a newborn, etc. would make a great personalized gift.

From a digital photograph the white, durable plastic, 110v, plug-in style, photocell activated, backlit, night light is created. Depending on how the image is cropped the night light lens is approximately 4 to 5 inches horizontally/vertically forming a square or more often a rectangle. The higher the resolution the more detailed the night light image.

The cost for these night lights is $30 each. Text or email an image to 636/671-2984 or [email protected]. We will crop the photo to enlarge the focal image unless directed otherwise. To keep it simple and to keep the product inexpensive, we won't be doing any script or providing a proof. When the product is complete, an image of your light will be provided to ensure your satisfied. When the light becomes available you will be notified. I only accept cash or check payments, so we will limit it to in-studio payments at this time.

The 2024 deer season has come to an end. Youth season was quite successful, and very motivating for our young hunters. However, I did not see many of my regular clients this season, as the harvest was down 15% overall from last year. Nonetheless, there were many exceptional trophies taken, enjoyable experiences, and great memories made. Thank you for your business hunting community.

PS: This one showed up on 1/16/25, they will be another year older before you know it.
