When they try and get sneaky changing names. I got ya covered
Can be in peanut butter, gum and other candies.
Sorry for my sniffle face. Still trying to get over the crud from weeks ago.
Spent some time outside with the ladies today. They are getting big and change colors still almost weekly
Headed to the livestock auction in the morning. Please lord help me to not bring every frickin animal home with me.
It was a beautiful day in the PNW today so I took the baby chicks outside for a bit. They enjoyed eating the grass, moss and leaves. The tiny yellow ones can squeeze through the bars in the fence. Stella Mae and Luna nearly had chicken dinner, but they were good girls when I told them to leave it. š£ š š„ š
Our little farm has picked up some new ladies today. More are coming, but today we picked up 2 Lavender Orphington Chicks and 2 Blue Laced Red Wyandotte Chicks. We still plan to get a couple Easter Egger Chicks and Buff Orphingtons to add to the flock this year. Canāt wait for them farm fresh eggs again.
Soooo bad news yāall. Stella Mae missed her breeding cycle. She went to the reproductive vet and had her progesterone tested as well as her Brucellosis test. Everything came back good and normal. She will be ready to be bred in late spring/early summer (June is her next heat due date) which would put pups on the ground in August which means the go home Octoberish just in time to continue their hunting training like they never left here.
Happy New Year everyone and allllll them Loudie baby owners protect your beers and drinks over the new years celebration Mama Luna personally would drink alllllllll the beer in the world. I canāt imagine her babies being any different. This is Stella in trouble for sneaking drinks. šŗ
Iāve had some folks asking about our next round of puppies. Stella Mae is taking her sweet time to go into heat this round. Sheās late on her heat cycle. Her little area did swell for like 3 days so I thought for sure she was going into heat then. Itās pretty common for that heat cycles are a bit off until a first litter is born. We do still plan to have puppies in 2024 it will just depend on Miss Mae and when she decides to go into heat. We will keep ya updated as I know more.
Many of my vet clinic friends have told me about this new respiratory virus going around that isnāt responding to antibiotics. Here is more about it
Now weāre talking. My sourdough starter is finally active and happy.
Itās that time of year again. The apples from our trees are ready so time for some homemade apple sangria. Mmmm mmmm mmm I canāt wait
Thanks everyone for your concern for Bouncy. She is resting way more comfortably today. She was still limping this morning so he has anti inflammatory and pain med this afternoon she had a very slight limp and is back to her old self. Thank you for all thoughts and prayers. Yāall know when this one decides to cross that bridge itās going to be suuuuuuper rough. Iām happy she bounced back so quickly this time
When it rains it pours now my ole lady Bouncy is having a rough time. We are doing a puppy trade tonight so I will be sleeping with Bouncy. Everyone else is nervous about her going up and down stairs but I canāt let the ole girl sleep alone. Sheās never slept alone a day in her life. Sheās stilll happy and tail wagging. The floor is getting harder for her so I may need to invest in some runner rugs that lead to the doors and her bed. She is on a anti inflammatory and pain meds and currently resting comfortably. 3 more months and she will be 14
Iāve probably gotten 20 messages today about Luna so thought Iād post an update. Sheās doing well. There are still 2 bo***es that have small amounts of milk and her energy is back to a normal German Shorthair. I did have to give her a half amount of sedative because sheās a little toooooo active. Her belly stiches have seeped open slightly, but not anything alarming. Itās waaaay easier this time around. Bouncyās spay was a friggin nightmare so this is a piece of cake comparing between the two. Luna has been super clingy and seems āscaredā to be left alone. She screams and cries even if I just go check the mail without her.
Snuggles with Mama Luna. I took her cone head off to give her a break and Iām here watching. She is doing waaaaaaaaay better after her cabbage leaves treatment. Her bo***es are nearly back to normal.
Mama Luna update. Sheās doing pretty well this morning. After her cabbage treatment last night this morning her mammory glands are waaaaaay less angry this morning. She does still have milk in some ni***es but they are not rock hard anymore (yay) and she seems more comfortable today. She seems chilly and keeps shivering I did remove her t shirt though so she may just be chilly.
Well thatās not what ya want. Luna is having some mammory issues. I Went to inspect her incision today and her ni***es were super swollen. It literally looks like sheās about to pop babies in a day or two I talked with the vets and they think she may be experiencing a false pregnancy. She is acting completely normal at this point and not running a fever at all just producing milk like crazy The doctors are having me watch for ANY signs of mastitis and if she gets any signs to call right away to be put on high dose antibiotics. For now they have us putting cabbage leaves on her ni***es for 2-4 hours at a time a couple times a day to help with inflammation and swelling. I have never experienced this before ever especially after a spay, even the vet was a little dumbfounded. Hoping this truly is just a false pregnancy and this will be over soon.
This little beauty just got all her OFA testing back and cleared by the vets to be bred December 2023 which will bring us our first Stella Mae babies February 2024!!!! She will be bred to the handsome Wheeler who we have used before as a stud. I would highly recommend getting on our waiting list now if you want in on one of these gorgeous pups.
Sheās up and moving. She tried to chase a bird but she was on a leash so didnāt get far.
Loudie has upgraded to Cone head and tshirt. She now started scratching at her shoulder stiches.
Luna update. Sheās doing pretty good. Sheās a bit sore but she ate some and drank some and took her pain meds. She has started licking her incisions though so she has upgraded to a full time cone head.
Slowest sheās ever eaten a puppichino in her life but she still had to have birthday celebrations. Sheās still pretty out of it but is resting comfortably. Tonight will be rough when the wicked come of shame has to be worn.
Luna is home and resting comfortably. Sheās a little chilly and sore, but super snuggly. Thank you all for the love and support.
Happy Birthday Loudie Tootie Fresh and Fruzie!!! Sheās 6 years old today. I didnāt even think about her birthday when we had to reschedule her spay. š Sorry Loudie Tunes.
Positive thoughts and prayers for this little wiggle butt. She goes in tomorrow morning to get her lady bits removed. Hoping for a uneventful and speedy recovery.
When dogs awake from anesthetic they tend to react just like humans. Shaky, wobbly, doze off all day, wake up panicked and super cold. THIS IS THE CALMEST YOU WILL EVER SEE A GSP!! Sheās usually running sun up to sun down. She did pretty well over all today though. The rest of the night is going to consist of snuggling and naps.

We started putting our apples to good use. Started a batch of hard apple cider. Iām excited to see how it turns out.
I hope you all have a safe holiday weekend. We here will be honoring those lost defending our freedom.
Definitely need patience with with breed at times. This was uncalled for the dog wasnāt even pulling or being a jerk in my opinion. Glad he got his job as a āhandlerā taken away.
Bouncy absolutely LOVES outside and would be out all day if I let her. Since I live on a super busy highway it just wasnāt possible to let her stay out without supervision. Welllll for her 13th birthday we decided to build a fence and I have to say it turned out absolutely gorgeous
As I look on to what might be my final day with Mr Jack Black we had to do some things he loves. Heās so darn funny and full of personality. When they were super little I use to send videos to the new owners on mandatory dance lessons. This is what that looks like at 11.5 weeks
