SOMETIMES WE NEED TO SEE UGLY TO APPRECIATE THE BEAUTY WE HAVE!
Today I am reminded of how thankful I am for the truly good people with whom I have surrounded myself. I recently had a shocking brush with a truly angry, ugly individual. It was just a brief telephone encounter but his disrespect and rage made me fear for those close to him. The experience made me instantly aware of how lucky I am to have a Community of kind, decent, civil people. Today, and every day, I am thankful for YOU!

THESE BOYS GET ALL THE LOVIN’
Who can resist snuggling a baby goat? Turns out, no one can! These little orphans are doing so well that it is easy to forget what a tenuous grip on life they had in their beginning. It took a great and talented veterinary team and lots of time and prayers but they have beaten the odds. They are little milk guzzling, p**p making, hop-skip-jumping, bundles of adorable. Heaven help us!!! lol

WE MADE IT RAIN!
The radar loop at midnight last night shows a storm developing right on top of us. More often than not, we watch rain clouds move around us, but not these! These were made to order. Blessed rain, we got nearly 2 inches from this little event alone - over 5 in the past few days. Better late than never. We sure have a lot to be thankful for.

BAGEL IS A GOOD BOY
It’s always a good day when the children play nicely with others!! How many horses are cool with sheep under their bellies?!? Bagel is a young 10 ish Paso Fino gelding who came to us with terrible, debilitating fear issues. He was a trembling, reactive mess for the first year he was here. He’s only now learning to trust and his kind, gentle spirit has started to shine. Lucky for our fearless sheep, he doesn’t have resource guarding issues. Bagel is a good example of a resident that will be with us as long as it takes to find his perfect home match. In fact, if he needs to stay here for his whole life, we are happy with that too. This is what we do.

BABIES ARE EXPENSIVE BUT SO WORTH IT!! JOIN TEAM GOOFY GOATS!
We never really know for sure what we’re signing up for when we say “yes” to animals in need. Usually we have a pretty good idea (or at least a rough idea) and can plan accordingly. Our budget is so tight, it squeaks!! We have a HUGE rescue coming up soon and these babies were an unexpected event. But sometimes we just have to do what it takes to save precious lives. These little boogers are not quite out of the woods and they have some issues we hope will resolve but they are doing great all things considered. There is really nothing cuter in the whole wide world and we could use your help with them For one thing, they love to eat. Weve added a powdered whole goat milk to our Amazon WishList. Second, they have a big (but so reasonable) vet bill outstanding Our Venmo is and Zelle is 361.960.9170 Third, they need NAMES!! I’ve been so busy and tired, they still aren’t named, Please help us help these lil orphans.

SPECIAL GOATEY THANKS
The little orphaned babies miss not only their Mama but also the antibody rich colostrum she would have made for them. It is critical that baby mammals get this immunity boost for at least the first 24 hours of life. Doc gave them some bovine colostrum before we left and we keep the powdered stuff here but nothing compares to the real thing. Bless local angel Jennifer Jones of J B Goats. She had some of the creamy gold frozen - enough for both of these boys. She even dropped it off for me at the Barnyard yesterday. Frozen in ice trays, it is easy to thaw and gently warm just enough for each feeding…and there are a lot of them, believe me! Our entire Community is rooting for these little urchins. Thank you so much Jennifer!

HAPPY BUT SAD DAY!
A little pregnant goat we took in a few months ago had a terrible time trying to give birth to her babies. We rushed her to our amazing vet’s house for care. Sadly, mama did not make it but Doc delivered two precious babies via cesarean section. It was touch and go and they had a very rough start but Dr. Merren and his family team worked a miracle and saved both babies. It was an emotional day for all of us…on our way home, even the sky cried! Hallelujah!! We’ll post updates and start begging for medical funds soon. Right now, I’m exhausted and preparing for a months long stint of round the clock bottles! For now, just know that we truly do all we can for our rescues and appreciate your support more than you know.

CALLING ALL BUN LOVERS!
These two male house rabbits need a new home. Their family can no longer keep them and we’d love to find them placement directly from their current home if possible. Young (1 1/2 yoa) tame and healthy, they are litterbox trained and family pet friendly. The black and white male is neutered. Please help us find these guys an appropriate home. Share, share, share!! It’s free and you never know whose heart you may reach.

YES, YOU HIDE VERY WELL BUNNY!
The Barnyard Yard Buns love being natural bunnies. Although they are pretty safe in their enclosure, they still have the instincts that keep prey animals healthy and hopping. Love that they are able to relax and enjoy a chill bunny lifestyle.

WELL, THAT’S JUST AMAZING!
Almost everyone who surrenders an animal to Barnyard Sanctuary says that they will continue to help support them. In our 26 years, I can count on one hand how many people actually have done so - one bunny lady, one horse grandma, and one pig person. We get it. Out of sight, out of mind. And we expect that, honestly. Sooo, when someone actually follows through, it is such a pleasant surprise. Bless this little rooster family!
