🎆🐾 Fourth of July Pet Safety Alert! 🐾🎆

As we prepare to celebrate Independence Day, it's important to remember that fireworks can be extremely frightening for our furry friends. At White’s Creek Veterinary Clinic, we're here to help ensure your pets stay calm and safe during the festivities.

If your dog experiences anxiety from fireworks, we can prescribe medications to help them relax. Please come by TODAY if you need medications.

Here are some tips along with how we can assist:

1. **Create a Safe Space:** Set up a comfortable, quiet area in your home where your dog can retreat from the noise.

2. **Stay Inside:** Keep your pets indoors during fireworks to prevent them from running away out of fear.

3. **ID Your Pet:** Ensure your dog is wearing a collar with updated ID tags. Microchipping is also a great precaution.

4. **Background Noise:** Play calming music or turn on the TV to help drown out the sound of fireworks.

5. **Comfort Your Pet:** Offer extra cuddles and reassurance. Anxiety wraps can also help.

6. **Medication:** If your dog needs extra help to stay calm, contact us to discuss anxiety medications. Dr. King can prescribe the right meds to keep your pet comfortable.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday! 🇺🇸🐶

As the warm weather continues, we want to remind you about the critical importance of flea and tick prevention for your furry friends. Here at Whites Creek Veterinary Clinic, we've seen a significant increase in tick-borne diseases in both dogs and cats this year. 😿🐶

Ticks and fleas are more than just a nuisance; they can carry and transmit serious illnesses such as Lyme disease, Ehrlichiosis, and Anaplasmosis, which can have severe health consequences for your pets. Regular preventive care is essential to keep them safe and healthy.

👉 Here are a few tips to protect your pets:

-Use Vet-Approved Preventatives: Ensure your pet is on a regular flea and tick prevention regimen. Consult with us to find the best product for your pet.
-Regular Checks: After outdoor activities, always check your pets for ticks and fleas. Pay special attention to hidden areas like under the collar, between the toes, and around the ears.
-Keep Your Yard Tidy: Maintain your yard by keeping grass short and removing leaf litter where ticks thrive.
-Stay Informed: Be aware of the symptoms of tick-borne diseases, which can include fever, lethargy, joint pain, and loss of appetite. If you notice any of these signs, contact us immediately.
Your pet's health and well-being are our top priority. Schedule a check-up or consult with us about the best flea and tick prevention for your furry family member. Together, we can ensure a safe and enjoyable summer for everyone!

Stay safe and tick-free! 🐾❤️

Dear Whites Creek Veterinary Clinic Community,

We are thrilled to announce that tomorrow, we will be launching a new practice management software at our clinic! This advancement marks a significant step forward in enhancing our workflow efficiency and ultimately providing even better care for our beloved furry patients.

As we embark on this transition, we kindly ask for your patience and understanding. Our current clients may be requested to fill out new paperwork to ensure that our records are as up to date as possible. Additionally, for those who have appointments scheduled, you may receive double text notifications during this period of adjustment.

But wait, there's more! We're especially excited to introduce our new pet portal, set to launch on 4/4/2024. 🎉 This portal will empower our clients by allowing you to stay informed about your pet's healthcare needs, request appointments with ease, and even streamline prescription refills. Access to the pet portal will be available through our website at www.whitescreekvet.com.

Of course, our phone lines will remain open for any inquiries or assistance you may need at 662-258-2139.

We are committed to providing the best possible experience for you and your furry companions, and we can't wait to embark on this journey together. Thank you for your continued support and trust in Whites Creek Veterinary Clinic!

UPDATE: Both puppies found a forever home together!

We have 2 male puppies here in the clinic that are looking for a forever home. They have neutered and up to date on vaccines. They’re approximately 4 months old.

They were very shy when they came to the clinic but they have warmed up to people a great deal.

If you’re interested in a puppy, send us a message or call us at the clinic. 662-258-2139

Dr. King spent the last two days in Washington, DC working with the American Veterinary Medical Association as part of the . The AVMA in DC plays a vital role in advocating for veterinarians, animal health and welfare, and public health.

Today AVMA members from across the country took to the hill to meet with their congressional and senator’s offices to talk about a bill that would help improve a program to attract veterinarians to underserved area, as well as a bill that aims to help protect the public and animal health across the country.

Dr. King got to meet our congressman, Representative Trent Kelly and discuss these two bills, which he already fully supports! We thank him for his support and hope he comes to see us the next time he’s in Eupora.

Dr. King also met with the staff for Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith and Senator Roger Wicker to discuss the issues facing the veterinary industry and ask them for their support.

It was a great trip, but Dr. King is looking forward to getting back in the clinic tomorrow.

This kitty is glad to be home with his friends tonight! He was diagnosed with diabetes last week and came back in on Saturday with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) and pancreatitis.

After 6 days in the hospital with a feeding tube, IV fluids and insulin he was feeling well enough to rejoin his family today.

We will continue to work on getting glucose regulated in the coming weeks, but tonight we’re celebrating him being back home!

The most common sign of feline diabetes that pet owners notice is excessive thirst and excessive urination. They may also notice weight loss despite a normal or increased appetite. If you notice these signs, please come see us so we can investigate the cause.

Cats that’s develop DKA become very weak/lethargic, have no appetite, and may be vomiting. This is a medical emergency and needs to be addressed right away. Left untreated DKA is a fatal diagnosis.

16/01/2024

We will be back open at normal time tomorrow!
Roads still have some patchy ice so be safe if you’re coming in!

15/01/2024

We’re going to be closed again today. Road conditions are not safe for staff and clients to get to the clinic.
We hope to be back tomorrow!
Dr. King

15/01/2024

Due to the threat of frozen precipitation today, we will be closed.
We hope to see you tomorrow.
Y’all stay safe and warm!
