Want your business to be the top-listed Pet Store/pet Service?
Marybeth started The Lucky Leash this year, after two decades of being happily surrounded by animals in one way or the other. Since an early age, much to her parents chagrin, she was forever bringing home stray or wounded animals hoping to be able to care for them. (At one point, wanting to keep and raise a wayward goat that had wandered away from a local farm into her familys’ front yard) Marybeth has been the proud pet owner of dogs, cats, hamsters, rabbits, mice, 2 marsupials, (they have to live in pairs, or they could become too lonely) a wild baby rabbit, and even a baby squirrel that she helped to rehabilitate and deliver back to Tufts Wildlife Clinic in Grafton.
Marybeth would later continue on to work for the Animal Rescue League in Dedham, Ma. for 4 years as an adoption coordinator and assistant veterinary technician, and then for 2 years as an official veterinary technician for a practice in Brookline. It was her original wish to become a vet, but sometimes life steers you in other directions, and Marybeth found a career working as a graphic designer (her second passion) at a large advertising firm in Boston. But she didn’t feel truly fulfilled, or that what she was doing was making a difference. A long commute and long hours with not a lot of down time or joy in it. Then, she got married, had a family and decided to stay home to raise her son (who is now 13, and also loves animals and helps with our doggie clients!). She supplemented her familys income by dog walking, pet sitting, and taking care of children in her home.
After losing her dear father last year, Marybeth decided to follow his last bits of advice about starting a business, and took some time to reevaluate things and do some soul searching. She decided this was going to be the year to take a leap of faith and trust the entrepreneurial spirit her successful businessman father passed down to her, and to fulfill her lifelong passion and use her gifts for working and caring for animals. “Leap and the net will appear.” Having been surrounded by animals growing up, and having two German Shepherds now, Marybeth understands that your pet is a most treasured part of your family, as hers are to her family. To many, pets are like children, and we worry about them. Most of us can empathize that it is stressful to leave your pet while you cannot be with them. Marybeth’s mission is take the worry out of leaving your beloved pet behind, for any amount of time; to not just give “basic” animal care, but to provide a wonderful, fun, interactive and sociable experience for your pet that will bring a little more joy into their day-until you arrive home. Your pet can crash on our couches, wander around as they please, choose where they want to sleep, and truly be a part of the family while they are guests in our home.
