Dr. Meghan started this company to save the vets from the moral stress, burnout, and other pressures that contribute to a veterinary su***de rate of 5 times the general population and in veterinarians leaving clinical practice. Initially, she saw FVM as a haven for veterinarians. It would be a place that vets could work without a corporate overlord demanding more and more revenue production with fewer resources and support staff. A place where personal relationships really matter. Where the medical, service, and professional standards of the company are dictated by veterinarians, not some venture capitalist who nobody has ever met.

Since that initial motivation, she realized that the entire pet-care field, from veterinary technicians and assistants, client service reps, managers, groomers, and others, suffers from similar anguish and fatigue. She also recognized that clients prefer pet care to be less stressful for not only their pets, but for them as well. Performing all services in the home removes a lot of the stress suffered by pet parents and pets alike. The pace, structure, and personal connection of pet care in the home is conducive to the professional pet caretakers’ well-being. It’s a win-win situation.

When families come together to celebrate Thanksgiving 🦃 , they often find it difficult to resist their pet's pleas for table scraps or wish to offer them leftovers, BUT not all foods are suitable for dog consumption.

Foods that have been seasoned or contain bones are best avoided. If you wish to include your pet in the celebrations, it is advisable to prepare dog-friendly treats in advance.

We hope everyone has a safe and joyful holiday coming up, but if an emergency situation arises with your pet, you can find a list of emergency animal hospitals down below. Certain situations require immediate intervention to prevent severe complications or loss of life. We do not see emergency cases, but will help you decide if your pet’s situation requires a trip to the hospital or visit from Dr. Meghan in the upcoming days.

If your pet exhibits any of the following symptoms, seek immediate veterinary care: trauma, such as being struck by a vehicle, respiratory distress, animal attack, collapse, fainting, stroke, or similar conditions, heat exhaustion or heat stroke, eye injuries or infections, constipation or difficulty defecating, straining to urinate, inability to urinate, or frequent urination, prolonged vomiting and/or diarrhea, decreased appetite for more than 24 hours, uncontrollable bleeding, swollen tongue or face, dehydration, pain, pale or blue gums or tongue, prolonged labor without producing a puppy or kitten, seizures lasting more than 2 minutes or recurring within 24 hours, changes in mental status, such as disorientation or stupor, or severe personality changes, ingestion of poisonous or toxic substances, snake bites, bloated abdomen, blood in urine or stool, or inability to rise or move. Go to one of these clinics and follow up with us afterward.
