I always enjoy working with older dogs who just need a little extra support ❤️
11yo Kemi has gone through a couple of big moves in the last couple of years. First she relocated to Texas with her human which also entailed moving from a private home to a nursing home.
More recently she's moved back into a private home with family and their dogs and cat. Don't worry, she visits with her human at the nursing home regularly ❤️❤️. But that's a lot of changes for a sensitive senior!
She's now really able to settle into her forever living situation and enjoyed some obedience training. She's just lovely and so very loved...oh, and incredibly resilient 🥰

Today we had "happy visits" at our vet! First each dog got some time in the "comfort room" with me (no techs or vets yet) where they got some super high value treats like MEATBALLS 😳😍.
We played some training games and otherwise just hung out (and ate MEATBALLS!). Afterwards we went for a lovely decompression walk at the park. Swipe ⬅️ swipe ⬅️ to see their super goofy windblown faces 😋
I expect many of you can relate to having dogs that experience A LOT of stress during vet visits and my dogs are no different 💔
I feel very lucky to have a great vet and a great relationship with her that supports communication about how to make veterinary care less stressful and more productive for everyone, especially the animals!
There are many facets to humane cooperative care that one IG post cannot cover...but I hope to spread the word that IT IS POSSIBLE to help our animals get the most comprehensive care available with LESS STRESS. Talk with your veterinarian ❤️

Comet! ☄️✨❤️ What a star!
We worked at the community center in his neighborhood for the first time and he blew me away with his focus (after the initial excitement and power sniffing phase), his mental stamina and his ex*****on of the skills we've been working on.
He sat calmly while joggers passed, he came eagerly when called and he stayed engaged in a game of fetch.
It may not sound like much, but at just 5 months of age and a male , that's pretty outstanding (if I do say so myself 😁)

My buddy Milo! 😚🥰

He's almost 8 now and needs a polite leash walking refresher course. Like most Cavaliers, Milo is overjoyed to go for WALKIES and has learned to pull and pull and yowl and woof when he spies anything that may become his newest and bestest friend...human and canine alike.
I love reconnecting with past clients and am looking forward to getting Milo reined back in 😁

This is Oliver, or Foliver (like fall+over) as his dad calls him. 🤭 . He has Cerebellar Hypoplasia (look it up, it's interesting!) as you can see in his jerky movements. It does not affect his cognition...he's just an adolescent boy with no previous training experience and a great big dose of "the world is a big scary place!" 😳 . This is not a glamorous video...it's real life training practice for place, let's go (polite leash walking), and leave it. Oliver is not perfect and his humom is learning too (way to go mom!). HOWEVER the improvement from the start of training is massive. 👏 . When I started with Oliver he barely knew how to sit, was pretty frightened of me and very frightened of all other strangers. He had very limited mental stamina, a lot like a very young puppy, and would just lay over and take a power nap(s) in the middle of a training session. SO, to see him working with his mom and chaining together several behaviors AND doing repetitions of the behaviors is kind of AMAZING. #killingit . . . #adoptdontshop #trainingisfun #thestellardog
