As difficult as it is to believe, not all people are "dog people." Sometimes it takes a nudge from a loved one to open their home and heart to a dog. Rose did just that for Bob. She shared the gift of unconditional love and companionship by encouraging Bob to open their home to a dog. When their first dog passed, Bob suggested that Rose get another dog. “Why?” she asked. Because, Bob answered, he didn’t like seeing the pain of loss, the yearning in her eyes. Bob and Rose had a number of dogs together after their first. Bob was indeed successfully, voluntarily, converted into….a "dog person."
Myla shared her first five years, of her 14 year life, with both Bob and Rose. Bob treasured every minute of his time together with Myla and when Bob passed, Myla had the most important job...comforting Rose, serving as a connection to Bob.
We believe that it took no time at all for Myla to reunite with Bob and that together, along with the shared pups that passed previously, they await you.

Tonight this montage played as Sayde's family surrounded her, comforting and loving on her as she transitioned to her next chapter. Tonight, I was reminded of just how much our pets are our family. They are not just a dog, not just a cat, but family. I was moved by how welcoming and loving Sayde was of her human siblings. I am thankful the children are growing up with dogs and reminded of how very much we all learn from our pets. Their presence leaves a lasting impact on our lives. May the memories of Sayde, and the lesson learned from her, continue to bring comfort and warmth to your family always. ~until you meet again~❤️

Some of the saddest euthanasias for us are those where children are present. Children who have known nothing, no one, other than their beloved family pet that they are having to say farewell to... Mark always expresses how fortunate a child/children are to have grown up with a family pet. Emphasizing the significance of the life lessons that perhaps they don't even recognize they've learned from having a family pet.

As quoted by author Nancy Saxton-Lopez,
"To my best friend, confidants, and loves: the dogs of my childhood, who taught me how to trust, love, and give."

Always remember your childhood family pets, who often embraced and had to adapt to you, their "new humans!"... who consistently demonstrated and modeled unconditional love.

Am feeling blessed this evening as we were able to find forever homes for BOTH Lonny and Lavee! Lonny, renamed Nova, is settling in and Lavee, renamed Layla, well, she too, is settling in. I’m thankful for the families that were wiling to open their hearts and their homes to these two special ladies.

Jackson, the snuggly pup who gave no indication that he would be 100 lbs! Jackson, who loved the outdoors and was happiest exploring, swimming, chasing... Jackson, in his backyard, in the snow, sun on his face was gifted the most beautiful and peaceful passing. May you forever remember the feel of those velvety ears. ~until you meet again~

Not our typical post, but these pups are near and dear to my heart as they were delivered and raised by my family. It began as an adoption from a kill shelter that resulted in well, a pregnant adoption and nine healthy, adorable, loving puppies.
We have managed to find homes for all but these two.

These two lovely ladies are in search of their forever homes!!!
Lavee Lavay is adorning the lavender collar. Lavee is a very loving, very smart girl who would be an amazing addition to any home!
Lonny, in the hot pink collar, is a spitfire! She's energetic, playful, loving and would do best with an active family preferably with other pets!!!
These gals are nine weeks old and have had their first vaccines. If you, or anyone you know, may be interested, please be in touch.

...And the wind will whisper your name to me
Little birds will sing along in time
Leaves will bow down when you walk by
And morning bells will chime
I'll be there when you're feeling down
To kiss away the tears if you cry
I'll share with you all the happiness I've found
A reflection of the love in your eyes
And I'll sing you the songs of the rainbow...
For Baby, by John Denver
Tonight, tonight it was Harper's song.

Allowing a loved one, to pass peacefully, in their home is such an incredible gift. This afternoon, as the family surrounded Libby, it was evident that not only did her "parents" love her, but also their daughter who has been their, her parents', caretaker, daily, for an indeterminate amount of time. Please know that you gave Libby her very best life. Both you, and Libby, were fortunate to have found one another and to have had this shared time together. As you heal, please take the very best care of one another and know... Libby will be watching over you, ~until you meet again~

Santa, 10 years ago, on December 6th, made a "surprise" home visit to deliver Pepper! Pepper, who tried on some other names, including Maggie, earned her spicy name, Pepper. Pepper was strong willed from the beginning and was rumored to have been part goat, with an iron clad stomach!!! Tonight, as you said ~till we meet again~ to Pepper, know that you gave her a gift and that she will be watching over your family...always❤️

… I've got sunshine, on a cloudy day
When it's cold outside, I've got the month of May
I guess you'd say
What can make me feel this way?
… My girl, my girl, my girl
Talkin' 'bout my girl, my girl...

Ribbon was "your girl." Ribbon was your power. Ribbon, lived her very best life and strived to please always. Today, you gave Ribbon the most unselfish gift... you gave her a peaceful passing, in her home, immersed in your touch and your love. ~until you meet again~

As a parent, I cannot fathom anything more difficult than having a child with a potentially life threatening illness. When that child's only request, at the age of five, is if she survives, may she please have a dog...well, she gets a dog! Bones, because all dogs love "bones," was a gift to the family. Bones was a testament to the resilience of Savannah and was a survivor himself. This evening, Bones was gifted peace and as Savannah and her family surrounded him, with happy stories, they all agreed, that while they had loved him for his entire life, they, they would remember him for their entire lives. ~until you meet again~❤️

As we gather around the table to give thanks and to celebrate with family, let's not forget to be grateful for our furry, feathery, and scaly friends who bring so much joy, love, and comfort to our lives each and every day. Whether they’re snuggling us, wagging their tails, or simply giving us those sweet, loving eyes, they make every day feel like a reason to be thankful.
Tomorrow, as you celebrate Thanksgiving, be grateful for the unconditional love of your pets and the laughter they bring to your lives. Wishing all of you and your fur babies a day filled with love, belly rubs, treats, and (safe!) turkey scraps. ~Happy Thanksgiving~❤️

I can never overstate how appreciative and thankful I am for those families that choose to adopt older/senior pups. Fiona, was an older girl, a bit quirky and well, named Fiona for her "not so attractive looks," as in Fiona from Shrek. Fiona, feisty till the very end, was well loved and had a remarkable family to live out
her very best years. Thank you. Thank you for not overlooking Fiona for a younger, cuter pup. Thank you for your commitment to rescue and to fostering, while you have your hands full with young humans! Know that Fiona will be watching over you...~until you meet again~❤️

When I think of a "frisbee dog," Boxer is not the first breed to come to mind, however, Gunner was just that...a frisbee dog! Gunner, if he caught the frisbee, would demand to be chased to retrieve his "trophy" to be thrown again, but if he would, by chance, not catch the frisbee, he would obediently return it and drop it at his human's feet for a second chance. Tonight, as his human reassured him that it was a sunny day, they were resting in the shade and that they would throw frisbee, we believed him. Gunner, we believe, is enjoying a beautifully sunny day, catching frisbee and watching over his family. ~until you meet again~❤️
