If you've never looked into a dog's eyes and seen deep into the beauty of their soul you're missing out. And sometimes, when you do you see a strength and beauty beyond compare.
A short time back we posted about Bordeaux, lovingly called Beau for short. Beau and his sister Asti are a bonded pair and they've been with us since September of last year. They were Chianti's only 2 surviving puppies. Mom was found on the streets in really bad shape, we were surprised any of the puppies survived. But these 2 had a will to live. Fast forward, Beau starts to present a limp, we go to the vet to find he has severe hip dysplasia. We see the specialists at Garden State and the news gets worse, as he needs a double FHO surgery (femoral head osteotomy), as one side is as bad as the other. We love Dr. Irausquin at Garden State and he prepared us for the long road our boy would have ahead, we had the sling ready to help him walk, his foster was educated on what would be needed for his recovery. We'd had many FHO surgeries before, but typically only one side. His surgery went well and he was released. But a remarkable thing happened. He just got up and walked. From day 1. No sling. No help.
To say we're in awe of his resilience, spirit, heart and soul is an understatement ❤️

Bordeaux Needs Your Help!
Bordeaux has been with us since last year. As a puppy he was active, with no signs of any distress. Very recently, he was playing and as the video depicts his hip just went out on him. Xrays at our vet showed severe hip dysplasia...and off to Garden State we went. Dr. Irausquin who we absolutely love strongly recommended a double FHO surgery. While one side is really bad, the other side is almost as bad. It's not something that can wait. Xrays and estimate are posted in the comments. We desperately need donations to make this happen. The estimate is $6500 and comes on the heels of Goldie's surgery, Ruby's recent visit for seizures, and so many others. Please donate if you can, no amount is too small. This poor guy has a tough recovery ahead of him, please say a little prayer for our boy.

A little Pinky positivity this morning 😍 since it's been a bit since we posted. It's 2 months post surgery for her AAI (atlantoaxial instability). It's been a long road with therapy at home to stretch and motivate her legs when she couldn't walk and building up strength with some water therapy in the tub. We believe she may have been born with this condition as opposed to suffering a trauma, and she never used her back legs fully so there was muscle mass loss that's compounded recovery and it's been like retraining her to use her back legs. She still stumbles but this teeny girl is such a fighter. She's come so far...from not even being able to hold her head up, given water by syringe multiple times a day and having to put her food right under her to be able to eat...to this ❤️
We are Pinky strong.
First...a little TV. Cartoons are my favorite 😉. Then I'll be heading off to Pet Supplies Plus - Hazlet, NJ to meet my friends for this weekends event. We'll be there from 12 to 2 pm.
If you're looking for a new best friend or just some doggie kisses...stop by.

Delightful duo looking for their forever place....
Why we Foster....
You can see her little self run from what looks like out of nowhere. Her body showed the burden of living on the streets. And yet her beautiful little spirit was almost unscathed. Pita the day she was found. So many involved with taking her various steps of the way including 2 amazing fosters . And she's almost there....almost home. It never would have happened without fosters. Please consider fostering. It's one of the most rewarding experiences. Fosters are needed locally (Monmouth, Middlesex, Ocean County). Our rescue pays for everything, food, crates if needed, all medical care. You just provide love and a warm home for a dog in need. VIsit www.3hearts4paws.org to apply.
